Description

The Senior Explosives Engineer is a member of the Enterprise Explosives Engineering group, which is responsible for delivering expert technical consulting and support for drilling and blasting operations, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and performance. Reporting to the Manager of Drilling and Blasting, this position will closely collaborate with Division Production Management to ensure activities are aligned with the goals and objectives of the Central Division. The duties of the role include supporting the drilling & blasting programs and improving the overall mine-to-mill total cost per ton for both surface and underground operations throughout the Midwestern United States.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Align blast layouts and designs with mine plans to achieve targeted KPI's
  • Mitigate impacts to neighbors and the community through coordination with vendors and site management
  • Uphold drilling and blasting regulations and company policy compliance
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical support for the blasters at our underground mines
  • Administer KPIs, including drill and blast activities, oversize production, pit equipment cycle times, and crushing plant production rates
  • Manage projects and develop explosives application solutions to improve the production process


Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required - Mining or Explosives Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of Explosives and Mining Operations Experience
  • Strong personal commitment to safety
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of MSHA and ATF regulations
  • Ability to pass ATF background check and obtain Employee Possessor status
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in both surface and underground aggregates blasting
  • Ability to work independently to solve complex problems, with minimal guidance
  • Valid Drone Pilot's License preferred
  • Proficiency with 3D blast design software(s) and integration with smart drills preferred
  • Bore Tracking knowledge and experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable of mine planning software(s) a plus
  • Explosives product manufacturing and specifications knowledge
  • Flexibility with hours and changing schedules- 30-50% travel required
