Sr. Engineering Manager

As the Sr. Engineering Manager, you willdirect the activities and operations of an engineering department/project team through assigning, coordinating, reviewing, and participating directly in the design, development and inspection of technical or engineering work/projects.

Direct Reports May Include: Engineer/Engineering Technologist/Specialist, Writer, Technical; Administrator, Support Services; Assistant, Technical Library; Coordinator.

What you'll do
  • Develop and implement standards, policies and procedures for engineering and technical work performed in the relevant department/project team.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control the activities and operations of an engineering department/project team.
  • Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings.
  • May participate directly in the design, development and inspection of technical projects or in the engineering work of the department/project team.
  • Oversee engineering projects to ensure they are technically sound and in compliance with all internal and external regulatory standards.
  • Monitor the progress of on-going projects, make recommendations for improving the process to meet the needs of the end-users, performs job cost reporting, budget analysis and reporting of overall project control.
  • Determine if assistance is required from outside contractors, initiates arrangements, provides technical data and assists contractors with related support services.
  • Exercise authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
  • Actively participate as a member of the appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of departmental strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.
  • Carry out special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:
  • University degree in an engineering discipline; or equivalent (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering discipline, including minimum of 2 years supervisory experience (Required)
  • 3+ years' experience in the engine maintenance repair and overhaul space (Required)

Preferred Characteristics
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.

Salary Range:

$140,000 - $160,000
