- Design and Development: Engineer steering system components; including Electric Power Steering (EPS), steering columns, and intermediate shafts. Lead the design and development processes for these components.
- Supplier Coordination: Interface with suppliers to ensure components meet structural, performance, and packaging requirements.
- Chassis and Drive Systems Integration: Contribute to the development and integration of chassis and drive systems for Scout pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs.
- Technical Excellence: Uphold the vision of engineering excellence and serve as a source of technical knowledge. Introduce innovative ideas and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve the Scout vision.
- Engineering Improvements: Critically review existing designs, ideas, and specifications, proposing engineering improvements.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to design and develop improved packaging and testing strategies, fostering engagement and contributions from all involved.
- Solution Development: Partner with concept and systems architecture teams to develop solutions for engineering and functional challenges.
- Prototype and Serial Development: Coordinate prototype and serial development stages, including part availability, test planning, and part releases.
- Additional Tasks: Participate in other related tasks and activities as required.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Engineering Technology.
- Experience: 8+ years of steering gear/rack (EPS) experience in concept engineering or serial development on SUV or truck platforms, including full vehicle integration.
- Technical Skills: Strong capability in CAD/FEA part and system design, validation, and development engineering for steering systems. Experience with requirements decomposition, system-level integration, DFMEA/DVP&R, and collaboration with supplier engineering teams. Familiarity with manufacturing, assembly, and plant launch processes.
- Project Management: Proven ability to lead component and system development within an OEM environment, including ownership of timing, deliverables, cost, and quality for assigned chassis components. Ability to independently manage projects within defined vehicle program milestones.
- Motivation and Innovation: Highly motivated engineer with a passion for electric vehicle development, capable of driving innovative technical solutions and engaging in hands-on validation, testing, and root-cause analysis.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including ownership, initiative, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and effective communication. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Excellence: Proven success working across OEM functions, including vehicle dynamics, packaging, software, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality organizations.
- Proactive Approach: Demonstrates a proactive, results-driven approach, taking ownership of issues, driving resolution, and continuously improving engineering processes and product performance.

Pay TransparencyThis is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $130,000.00 - $160,000.00
