Job Overview
The Sr. Software Engineer works with a team of software, network, and systems engineers to design, implement, and deploy software that meets customer requirements, scales easily, removes the limitations of traditional networking solutions, and supports deployment in highly available environments. The Sr. Software Engineer actively participates in the architecture and design of various software components focused on creating applications that leverage technologies such as virtualization, microservices, software-defined networking, network functions virtualization, and big data. They ensure that technologies are engineered for performance, resilience, and long-term operational excellence across cloud-native infrastructure including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Kubernetes orchestrated container environments. They work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative, understand the implications of work, and make recommendations for solutions. They normally receive little instruction on daily work and only require general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
Job ResponsibilitiesTechnical Engineering Services- Drive engineering projects by developing software solutions; conducting tests and inspections; preparing reports and calculations. Expected to supervise base and associate level engineers as needed.
- Understand system protocols, how systems operate, and data flows. Expected to independently develop a full software stack and understand the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work. Interact with systems engineers to define system requirements and/or necessary requirements for automation. Independent study of current technology is expected.
- Protect and ensure the stability of operational systems as well as maintain the integrity of the data they contain. Participate in complex troubleshooting efforts involving multiple teams and disciplines while working toward recovery and performing root cause investigation.
- Perform environment management for Cisco UCCE and Verbio ASR systems as well as support containerized applications and microservices in custom Kubernetes, Azure Cloud, and Microsoft D365 environments.
- Research tools to provide improved observability for speech applications. Create, manage, and utilize dashboards for continuous monitoring and health checks of applications and infrastructure.
Innovation- Contribute to designs that implement new ideas utilizing new frameworks to improve an existing or new system, process, or service.
- Review existing designs and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workloads through industry perspectives.
- Understand the creation of company IPR.
Technical Leadership- Collaborate with technical teams and utilize system expertise to deliver technical solutions.
- Continuously learn and teach others existing and new technologies.
- Contribute to the development of others through mentoring or in-house workshops and learning sessions.
Technology Strategy- Contribute to new and existing technology options that support business goals.
- Understand current technology benefits, system protocols, how systems operate, and data flows. Aware of current technology that supports business goals and expected to independently develop a full software stack. Independent study of current technology is expected.
Technical Writing- Create clear documentation for new code, systems used, and how technology works.
- Document systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the manager level.
Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed.
Education and Work Experience- Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of related work experience OR Advanced degree with 3 years of related experience (Required)
- Acceptable areas of study include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management or equivalent experience in field (Required)
- 4-7 years Technical engineering experience. (Required)

Base Pay Range: $113,600 - $205,000
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
