Why This Role Matters We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license and strong project management experience to join our MEP engineering team. This role combines advanced technical design, project leadership, client management, and coordination across multi-disciplinary project teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can oversee full project lifecycles-concept through construction-while maintaining high quality standards and client satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Engineering & Design
- Lead mechanical/HVAC design for buildings across various sectors (commercial, institutional, mission critical, life sciences, residential, etc.).
- Perform and review complex engineering calculations, system sizing, code analysis, and equipment selection.
- Develop mechanical plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, IECC, etc.).
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and assist during construction administration.
Project Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and staffing from kickoff through closeout.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology teams.
- Oversee junior engineers, mentor staff, and provide technical guidance.
- Manage proposal development, project planning, and forecasting of workload.
Quality & Delivery
- Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain strong communication and documentation throughout project execution.
- Drive project efficiency and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field required; MSME a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years as a Lead Mechanical Engineering experience in an MEP consulting environment
- Demonstrated experience managing projects of varying size and complexity.
- Proficiency with industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, and other HVAC modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of building systems, codes, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:- 12 years+ as a Lead Mechanical Engineering experience in an MEP consulting environment
- Experience in lab, healthcare, mission critical, or high-performance buildings.
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks (LEED, WELL, Energy Modeling).
- Experience mentoring engineers and supporting business development.
Expected Salary Range The expected compensation for this role, including benefits, ranges from $120,000 to $190,000 annually and will be determined based on experience, licensure, education, internal equity, project scope, and location.
