Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Senior Controls Engineer and collaborate within a cross-functional team of engineers to develop and implement cutting-edge control systems across all Tyson facilities. If you have a passion for manufacturing automation, system design, integration, programming, and troubleshooting, this role is perfect for you!

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree, or a significant amount of relevant experience. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Quantitative or Engineering Field preferred."

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of experience in control engineering, with proficiency in programming PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA control systems, preferably Inductive Automation’s Ignition. Experience with interfacing to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), various Cloud and IIoT platforms is a plus.
  • Strong background in reading electrical control schematics, developing sequences of operations, and translating them into automation code.
  • Skilled in making advanced system enhancements, troubleshooting issues, and testing existing applications for optimal performance.
  • Experience in project management, including collaborating with external vendors.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with one or more PLC/SCADA platforms including EcoStruxure Control Expert, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, or Inductive Automation Ignition.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages and interfacing with various operating systems such as Windows/Linux/Unix is a plus.
  • Microsoft SQL Server database experience is a plus.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Travel

  • 10 – 12 trips per year. Engineer should be willing to travel to job sites for start-up of control systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • A Senior Controls Engineer may direct other team members and contractors on project deliverables.

Special Skills

  • Advanced programming and design skills in PLC/HMI, and SCADA control systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ANSI/ISA standards.
  • Ability to accomplish systems analysis tasks across the Tyson enterprise.
  • Intermediate knowledge of electrical control systems design principles.
  • Ability to complete complex coding requirements within project time constraints.
  • Willingness to support installed control systems for emergency purposes outside of normal business hours.

Project Management Skills

  • Experience in managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with external vendors and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools a plus

Additional Requirements

  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) operations, wiring, and configuration. Allen-Bradley PowerFlex experience preferred.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) operations, wiring, and programming. Allen-Bradley Logix platform preferred.
  • Experience with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) operations, wiring, and programming. Rockwell PanelView Plus / FactoryTalk View platform preferred.
  • Experience with installation and implementation of process controls networks such as Ethernet/IP.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13849 Safety Standard.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements in the Workplace.
  • Food processing knowledge is a plus.
