Job Description:

Sr. Electrical Engineers – Battery Technology

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Lead the design, prototype, and test of lithium-ion batteries to mass produce the “best-in-class” battery solutions.
  • Provide engineering support on high complexity engineering projects.
  • Lead the design to qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.
  • Serve as a role model for Milwaukee Tool’s culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior engineers. Grow the team’s technical capability and future leadership. Manage a small team of engineers.
  • Oversee projects to ensure adherence to schedule and the company process.
  • Drive urgency in project schedules and hold accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization’s needs.
  • Create work breakdown structures for projects while driving to critical milestones.
  • Provide candid and effective communications up, down, and across the organization on progress, barrier removal, and escalation of business risks/opportunities.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.
  • Develop test plans and procedures based on new or established products, to ensure product meets customer requirements.
  • Draw concise, logical, written conclusions from experiments based on data analysis.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on lithium-ion failure modes, including thermal events, impedance rise, and capacity degradation.
  • Supervise the work of other employees (Electrical Engineers).

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, and 5 years of relevant progressively more responsible experience as an Electrical Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, and 2 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation.

Work or academic experience must have included:

1. Technical leadership, project management, or mentoring others.

2. Li-Ion, NiCAD, Lead Acid, or other chemistry.

3. Lithium-Ion battery management, charging strategies, and circuits.

4. Product development using lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and e-loads.

5. Battery system design, architecture, testing, or integration.

10% of domestic and international travel required.
