About the role:
As the Sr Director, Team Manager within the CIO Priority Orchestration & Agile Response team, you will lead a team of project managers who will be responsible for managing practice-wide projects and strategic initiatives that support our practice's ability to be indispensable to CIO & AI Leader clients. This is a player/coach role with analyst responsibilities creating content and taking inquiries related to key CIO priorities. Team Management (60%), IC responsibilities (40%).

What you will do:
  • Team leadership: Lead a team of project managers supporting CIO & AI Leader practice-wide projects such as coordinated content development efforts like Eye on Innovation, content innovation efforts such as CIO connected content (e.g., decision support maps, playbook formats, pulse checks, etc) and content development improvements (such as creation/maintenance of GenAI toolsets and practice wide client outreach campaigns). Provide coaching and feedback, professional and career development, and recruitment, as necessary. Conduct a skill inventory, create development plans, and connect team members with learning opportunities.
  • Content Development and Client Interactions: Identify and pursue content opportunities related to key CIO priorities with a preference for a topical focus on strategic portfolio management, enterprise transformation and change. Meet with CIO-End User clients to discuss Gartner insights related to their mission critical priorities.
  • Portfolio and project management: Establish portfolio management capabilities, project management practices, and a cross-practice prioritization model for the CIO & AI Leader practice. Develop tracking and reporting mechanisms including project plans, status, risks, interdependencies, and benefits.
  • Change leadership: Identify change stakeholders, assess change impact and readiness, develop change strategies, engage stakeholders and/or representatives, and overseeing the creation and maintenance of change and communication plans for all CIO Priority Orchestration & Agile Response projects (content creation across cohorts, collaboration on innovative content, developing cross-practice skill needs e.g. interviewing/tools) to operationalize the cohort model, both for the CIO group (such as cross-practice education to help boost position impact) and across Gartner (such as improving coordination with CPP/Content Architecture teams). These initiatives will be led either by the VP Program Mgmt or their team based on complexity and availability.
  • Process development & improvement: Uncover pain points and identify process improvements and/or develop new processes that support the CIO & AI Leader practice to better serve our clients' critical priorities. Quantify and qualify improvement benefits to inform CIO & AI Leader business value stories.


What you will need:
  • 15+ years of demonstrated experience in leading delivery teams in support of complex business functions.
  • 5+ years of analyst-like experience: client-facing content development and client interaction experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience managing, developing, and growing a high-performing team (including project managers) in a large enterprise organization.
  • Ability to diagnose the root cause of performance to maximize team outcomes.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines by prioritizing demands and coordinating multiple engagements.
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones.
