Full Job Description
Purpose:
LifeSolutions, a leading Employee Assistance Program (EAP) serving more than 500,000 covered lives across over 350 client organizations, is seeking an accomplished behavioral health and business leader to serve as its next Senior Director.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a thriving business at the intersection of behavioral health, organizational well-being, and workforce productivity. The Senior Director will oversee all aspects of LifeSolutions, including strategy, operations, business development, client relationships, product innovation, and financial performance. Beyond operational leadership, this individual will serve as a recognized industry thought leader, representing LifeSolutions through conference presentations, professional associations, client engagement, and national partnerships. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build on LifeSolutions' strong market position, drive continued growth, and expand its influence as one of the region's most respected employee assistance organizations.

The Senior Director LifeSolutions EAP oversees the day-to-day functioning and strategic direction of the product line. The Senior Director oversees financial activity, contract generation and renewal and all programs offered by LifeSolutions EAP including in-person and telephone counseling, National Service Center operations, account management functions and administrative support.

This position directs operations of all services provided through staff and affiliate offices and independent contractors of LifeSolutions. The Senior Director participates as a member of the WorkPartners Advocacy Services leadership team regarding product development, sales and strategic planning, assuring a program of quality and profitability which operates as both a stand-alone and integrated suite of products and services.

This role is Hybrid, based in Pittsburgh, PA and requires 3 day per week onsite.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer and direct account management services including implementation, service delivery, management consultation and contract renewal.
  • With the AVP of Advocacy Services for Work Partners co-direct the pricing, selling and marketing of LifeSolutions' products and the ongoing marketing materials updates and strategy.
  • Report to customers which detail utilization and impact of LifeSolutions' products and services, including recommendations to meet customer objectives as well as substantiate the financial and work-performance related incentives for implementing these products and services.
  • Initiate and direct research protocols, in coordination with the EAP Clinical Director and Director of NSC and Operations regarding potential cost savings to LifeSolutions' customers.
  • Increase LifeSolutions' visibility through participation in national and regional professional organizations.
  • Respond to the needs of individual employees, departments or other organizations with courtesy, respect and a positive outlook that reflects the team effort of the department.
  • Participate as a member of the WorkPartners Advocacy Services leadership team responsible for integration of Insurance Services Division products and services to ensure LifeSolutions' EAP integration with other businesses and coordinate service delivery of LifeSolutions EAP and the integrated product.
  • Participate in local, regional and national EAP professional activities, and submit proposals for presentations on departmental programs and initiatives which reflect innovations in the field.
  • Responsible for the administrative systems and procedures which respond to the needs of client organizations and oversight of the individuals who manage them. This includes managing the Clinical Director and Director of NSC and Operations.
  • Develop LifeSolutions' business plan , budget, financial analysis of service costs including marketing. Prepare reports as needed.
  • Participate in strategic planning with internal and external UPMC resources including by not limited to HR, Office of Inclusion, Domestic Violence experts, WPIC administration, WorkPartners/Health Promotions and all other businesses and the UPMC Health Plan.
  • Increase LifeSolutions' presence in the region as consultants on issues of change management, impact of stress and violence prevention including intimate partner violence.
  • Contract with medical, education, government, retail, legal and labor unions locally and in multi-state locations.
  • Oversee development of new EAP products and initiate development as trends dictate.
  • Develop and revise all databases and systems, outcomes, and pathways, and manage the development and presentation of all reports and reporting mechanisms.
  • Manage EAP telephone and in-person counseling, crisis management.
  • Serve as a model of customer service for LifeSolutions internally through leadership and management of the organization and all its functions, including clinical care, account services, service center protocols/functions and administrative support.


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in psychology, social work, or related behavioral science field is required.
  • License preferred.
  • 12+ years' experience in employee assistance management and managed behavioral care is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in strategic planning, product development, marketing and financial management is required.
  • Expertise in Cognitive Behavioral theory and application as well as the major health behavior change theories including Motivational Interviewing and strength-based theory models.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply relevant theory to lifestyle improvement, career challenges and life transitions, coping and grieving, resilience, team building, and personal and professional development.
  • Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary leadership team tasked with the development, sales, and implementation of an integrated health and productivity product.
  • Ability to establish relationships with a wide variety of professional and non-professional levels is necessary.
  • A strong knowledge of mental health issues in the workplace and strategies to assist in resolution of staff member problems is essential.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, including conference speaking and industry engagement.
  • Approximately 25-30% Travel
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    License strongly preferred.
