About the roleConcept Plus is seeking an experienced Senior Developer to join our team supporting a critical Air Force system modernization project. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the design, development, and maintenance of a complex enterprise application built on a Java/J2EE platform.
You will work within a dynamic, team-based Agile environment, leveraging your technical expertise to deliver robust, secure, and high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience with modern cloud and AI-powered technologies, as this role will be instrumental in our planned migration to a cloud-native architecture in AWS GovCloud.
What you'll do- Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack enterprise applications, including front-end components and back-end Java/J2EE services.
- Analyze, maintain, and enhance complex Java code, including code automatically converted from legacy COBOL programs.
- Write and maintain complex Oracle PL/SQL procedures, functions, and triggers to support business logic.
- Utilize static code analysis and security scanning tools to proactively identify and remediate security vulnerabilities and code quality issues.
- Develop and maintain a suite of automated tests (unit, integration, functional) to ensure quality and regression-free deployments.
- Develop and manage system interfaces with multiple legacy systems using messaging queues (JBoss AMQ).
- Create and maintain sophisticated reports using JasperReports.
- Work as a key member of an Agile development team, collaborating with government stakeholders to develop and estimate user stories.
- Contributes to the creation and maintenance of the system architecture and product roadmap.
- Leverage modern development practices, including AI-assisted tools, to accelerate the software development lifecycle.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
- Liaise with systems engineers, database administrators, and other technical teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment.
Required Qualifications- US Citizenship Required
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Secret Clearance
- DoD 8140 intermediate certification or DoD 8570 IAM Level II certifications or higher
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 6-8 years of professional experience in full-stack Java/J2EE software development.
- Strong proficiency with Oracle databases, including complex SQL and PL/SQL development.
- Strong experience with front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency in developing RESTful APIs and working with data formats like XML and JSON.
- Strong experience with J2EE application servers such as JBoss or Tomcat.
- Proficiency with modern version control systems (e.g., GitLab, GitHub).
- Demonstrated experience working within an Agile development methodology.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience developing and deploying applications in an AWS GovCloud environment.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
- Experience with DevSecOps principles and CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Experience building applications with Oracle APEX.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development.
- Familiarity with security and quality scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify).
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Selenium).
- Experience with enterprise messaging systems like JBoss AMQ.
- Hands-on experience with JasperReports.
- Possess functional experience within a USAF or other DoD program environment.
