The Opportunity The Senior Design Project Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the design and documentation phases of highly complex, mission-critical data center projects. This role requires advanced technical expertise in Architectural and Engineering disciplines and proven leadership managing large-scale, multi-site programs. The Senior Design Project Manager guides internal and external teams from concept through construction documentation, ensuring designs meet performance, cost, schedule, and quality standards for 24/7/365 operations.
What you will do? - Lead Architectural and Engineering consultants and internal design teams through all design phases, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents for new builds and facility retrofits.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated and clash-free designs.
- Ensure design documents comply with company Data Center Design Standards, industry best practices, and applicable local and national codes and regulations.
- Manage design scope, consultant fees, budgets, deliverable schedules, and the quality of drawing sets, technical specifications, and Basis of Design documents.
- Implement Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes for technical documentation prior to internal review, permitting, or release for construction bid.
- Oversee adherence to BIM standards and protocols, ensuring design models maintain strong coordination and data integrity.
- Partner with Operations, Equipment, Solutions Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, IT, Security, Commissioning, Construction, and critical equipment teams to validate requirements and integrate technical data into the design package.
- Support construction administration by leading technical reviews and timely responses to RFIs and submittals, ensuring compliance with design intent.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of project management experience managing large-scale, complex Data Center, Mission Critical, or heavy industrial projects.
- Deep knowledge of data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including critical power paths, cooling topologies, and structural load requirements.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams and external Architectural and Engineering firms.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools, including Procore and Bluebeam, with familiarity in Revit/BIM environments.
