The Department of Medicine at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, is seeking a Sr. Department Administrator, Clinical to provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Disease.

The Sr. Department Administrator will oversee a large and complex operation, including 42 faculty physicians, 15 advanced practice providers, 21 fellows, and a multidisciplinary team of administrative, clinical support, and 20 research staff. The role includes management of an $18.2 million budget, including $2.2 million in grant funding, while supporting a high-volume clinical enterprise with approximately 51,000 patient encounters projected for FY26.

In this role, the Sr. Department Administrator will oversee daily operations across clinical care, finance, research, and staffing, ensuring alignment with the strategic priorities of the Department of Medicine and UHealth while supporting continued growth and excellence across all mission areas.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provides leadership in developing business strategies and tactics to support the goals of the division and overall Health System's strategic plans for market growth and development.
  • Heads performance management processes and outcomes for employees and physicians.
  • Guides managers in developing skills in and implementation of performance management practices.
  • Supports professional development of the workforce.
  • Performs needs assessments to determine continuing education needs of staff.
  • Monitors staff and physician satisfaction.
  • Provides administrative oversight to the division's practices, supporting the employment of quality improvement processes.
  • Pursues the spread of best practice in operations, consistent with overall network goals.
  • Directs the planning and strategic formation of the clinical program's goals.
  • Directs the development of policies and procedures for network-wide use in the clinical activities of the practices.
  • Analyzes and reviews financial and productivity reports.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
