Full Job Description
This job is for full-time controls systems owner at Lincoln CT, Mill Creek CT, and Marshall CT.
This is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.
The controls system owner will work at the site, within the station's technical team and provide direct support to plant operations and maintenance, primarily in the form of troubleshooting, problem solving, and technical recommendations for assigned plant systems and equipment. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in capital improvement and maintenance projects as required.
Responsibilities
37Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in area of expertise.37Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of moderate scope and complexity.37Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.37Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.37Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities across various groups.37Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.37Provides coaching and mentorship to fellow Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
Basic Requirements
37Associates in Engineering Technology37Minimum 6 years related experience37In Lieu of associate's degree and 6 years related experience, HS Diploma / GED and 8 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
37Experience supporting generating facilities (coal, natural gas, and simple cycle)37Experience in various DCS Platforms such as Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000, etc37Experience with PLCs37Experience with various communication protocols such as MODBUS, TCP/IP, serial, etc37Experience with data links/interface devices such as MODBUS, PLCs, RTAC, TCP/IP, etc.37Experience with Microsoft Windows and Windows Servers.37Understanding of NERC Cyber requirements37Knowledge of various instrumentation37Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation malfunctions37Ability to review and implement controls logic changes37Ability to tune control loops37Understanding of network management, database management, etc.37Experience with datalink development and maintenance37Experience reading, interpreting, and using plant Process & Instrument Diagrams37Experience understanding of station processes37Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology.37Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
