Description POSITION DESCRIPTION: Hanwha Q CELLS America is looking for a Senior Counsel to support its direct-to-homeowner solar sales and financing business. You will join a collegial team of 20 legal professionals and report to the Assistant General Counsel. You will be given responsibilities in a wide range of legal matters with a focus on the direct-to-homeowner solar sales and financing business, including support on consumer protection, regulatory and compliance matters, commercial contracts, state and local licensing, and litigation. Our legal team is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years and there will be exciting opportunities for career growth. This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel and the location will be at the Irvine, CA office but remote work may be considered for exceptional candidates .
RESPONSIBILITIES - Primarily support contracts for TPO business, including focus on consumer contracts and dealer contracts.
- Negotiate, draft and review various commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, partners and other third-party agreements.
- Ability to project manage, and effectively collaborate across cross-functional teams in order to proactively advance assigned legal projects to completion in a timely manner that aligns with our business objectives and growth plans.
- Providing legal support for litigation, regulatory, consumer protection, data privacy, cybersecurity, and any other relevant areas of law, as needed.
- Create legal and commercial forms and processes and educate the business on important legal and commercial matters
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - 6+ years experience
- Top law firm training preferred
- In-house experience, preferably with broad range of responsibilities
- Experience working for a direct-to-homeowner solar sales and financing business or other clean energy or global technology company is a plus
- Strong judgment and effective communication with business colleagues, particularly the ability to explain risks in a manner that is digestible to a non-attorney audience.
- A proactive, can-do attitude who is eager to take on more responsibility, learn new areas of law, connect and collaborate with colleagues outside of legal to build effective cross-functional relationships, a highly self-motivated individual who takes pride in moving projects along in a timely manner without frequent supervision.
