Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze budget vs. actuals, forecasts, and cost trends across multi-year projects
  • Develop and update Estimates at Completion (EAC) and Estimates to Complete (ETC)
  • Monitor cost deviations, trends, and risks, escalating potential issues to project leadership
  • Support change management, including change orders and budget transfers
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and technical teams to align financial performance with project execution
  • Prepare accurate cost reports, dashboards, and forecasts for stakeholders

As a Sr. Cost Specialist, you'll play a critical role in transforming data into insights that keep our utility and renewable energy infrastructure projects on track, on budget, and built for long-term success.

What You'll Do

  • Track, analyze, and control project costs for EPC energy and utility infrastructure projects, including transmission, substations, renewables, and utility construction work
  • Maintain and analyze budget vs. actuals, forecasts, and cost trends across multi-year projects
  • Develop and update Estimates at Completion (EAC) and Estimates to Complete (ETC)
  • Monitor cost deviations, trends, and risks, escalating potential issues early to project leadership
  • Support change management, including change orders, budget transfers, and cost impacts
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations Directors, and technical teams to align financial performance with execution plans
  • Prepare clear, accurate cost reports, dashboards, and forecasts for internal leadership and external stakeholders
  • Support Project Controls Execution Plans and ensure adherence to company standards and procedures
  • Utilize systems such as JDE, EcoSys, Procore, Excel, and Power BI to support job cost tracking and reporting
  • Serve as a trusted cost resource for assigned projects, contributing to continuous improvement in cost control practices


What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in project cost control, job costing, or project controls within:
    • EPC
    • Construction
    • Utilities
    • Energy or infrastructure projects
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Cost forecasting
    • Budget control
    • Change management
    • Cost trend and risk analysis
  • Experience working in a project-based environment (not manufacturing or corporate accounting)
  • Proficiency in Excel (advanced level)
  • Experience with JDE and/or EcoSys; Procore experience preferred
  • Ability to translate complex cost data into clear, actionable insights
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or equivalent practical experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $73,600.00/Yr. - USD $140,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
