WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?The
Senior Corporate Accountant would be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with IFRS standards, and providing technical accounting guidance across the organization. This role combines deep accounting expertise with strategic financial analysis and cross-functional collaboration to support business decisions. This role will also be responsible for interacting with external auditors, C-level management and global team at VCNA's parent company.
WHAT WILL YOU DO? - Interact with internal and external auditors, banks and consultants to comply with tax and regulatory requirements and for quarterly reviews and year-end audits, and aligned with best practices;
- Oversee the accounting policies and procedures including the implementation of new accounting standards and resolution of complex accounting issues
- Research technical accounting issues and prepare accounting memos in accordance with IFRS
- Prepare material (presentations, support files, etc) for management
- Lead the consolidation and Financial Statement elaboration process, including reviews from Global team, Audit Committee, External auditors partners, BOARD members, etc
- Lead monthly accounting activities like accounting schedules, consolidated reports, etc
- Assist in less experienced positions on the team to deal with complex tasks
Financial Analysis: - Perform financial analysis to support business strategy decisions, including monthly, quarterly and yearly analysis of Balance Sheet and Income Statement variations vs budget, prior periods, etc
- Understand management needs and structure reports accordingly
Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Work closely with other departments, including marketing, sales, finance, and operations, to align strategy with business capabilities and objectives.
- Provide analytical support to various teams in the development of business cases, new accounting standards (IFRS), and accounting assessments
- Communicate strategic insights and recommendations to executives and key stakeholders.
AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING: This role involves a mix of independent decision-making and collaborative input, requiring autonomy in conducting research and analysis while working closely with senior leadership to guide strategic decisions.
INITIATIVE: Proactively identify opportunities, take independent action and drive strategic initiatives with minimal supervision.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:This role focuses on accounting standards (IFRS) and accounting routines, such as variation analysis, month/quarter/year end procedures and financial statements.
PROBLEM SOLVING: - Ability to understand and apply accounting policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to oversee less experienced team members.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of financial terms, economic models, market analyses and feasibility studies in the cement industry.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and to communicate clearly with all levels of the organization.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Portuguese) would be considered an asset.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, financial reports, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to employee groups, management at all levels of the company.
MATHEMATIC SKILLS: Ability to develop and interpret financial models and financial statements as well as to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as analysis of variance and correlation techniques.
COMPUTER SKILLS:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of spreadsheet software and presentation software.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000Location: Toronto, Ontario
