This role will support the BIM/IDD Manager to enable Integrated Digital Delivery outcomes to ensure the information is delivered to program and coordinated between engineering disciplines, organizations and packages.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Supporting the day-to-day activities for BIM, GIS and digital construction across project disciplines (Design, estimating, planning, construction).
  • Develop phased site development 2D and 3D drawings for construction.
  • Create and maintain corridors/sections/profiles for road design alignments.
  • Quantity take-offs using cut/fill tracking, XML surface extractions.
  • Support the IDD/BIM Lead to ensure the correct activities are assigned to the consultant supply chains Information Managers.
  • Provide coordination reports of the interfaces between engineering disciplines/design and construction/temporary and permanent works design activities, through the IDD process.
  • Coordinate and develop the design to construction through IDD processes such as 5D/4D to ensure consideration and optimization of opportunities for sustainability, digital engineering, buildability, carbon, logistics, industrialization, designing for maintenance, and health, safety and welfare during construction and in-use.
  • Run IDD tools training workshops to enable people to deliver their responsibilities in relation to Aecon IDD Strategy.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Construction Managers to develop a project-specific process for utilizing or creating 3D information for estimating, logistics, planning, scheduling, coordination, field layout and/or facilities management.
  • Coordinate with field superintendents and construction managers, design engineers, and others to meet constructability requirements.
  • Create project-specific protocols regarding communication and data exchange, nomenclature, format, and 3D workspace orientation to ensure interoperability as required.
  • Facilitate consultants and trades through multiple project phases with the digital logistics construction management process.
  • Assist in the creation of project-specific contract language for tender packages for 3D submission processes and 3D as-builts for facilities management.
  • Review, coordinate and manage the creation of Project Information Models.
  • Perform project deployment duties including installing software, organizing, maintaining and setting up CAD exchange environments, providing basic training and support for the project team, coordination assistance, file conversions, and documenting processes and solutions for reuse.
  • Champion 3D coordination on active job sites, act as liaison with project teams, consultants and subcontractors to facilitate processes and maintain the Master Project BIM database.
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions that will enhance or improve processes.


What You Bring to the Team:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience on large infrastructure projects.
  • Large infrastructure BIM implementation experience.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training plus experience/knowledge of civil construction practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of BIM standards (ISO 19650/Institute of BIM in Canada).
  • Expertise in model federation platforms such as Assemble Systems, Navisworks and Bentley Navigator.
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining content libraries (Revit families and materials) specific to infrastructure and building assets.
  • Proficiency in auditing Revit/Civil 3D models against design requirements and approved modelling guidelines.
  • Experience with integrated 4D scheduling and 5D estimation workflows with construction and estimating teams.
  • Capability in producing and validating model-based quantity take-offs to support estimating and cost management.
  • Experience in the implementation of Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise and Aconex.
  • Detailed understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.
  • Working knowledge of EHS regulations.
  • Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle.
  • Experience working within construction project environments.
  • Experience on large, complex infrastructure projects would be desirable.
  • Understanding of design and construction phases and alignment with the Digital Plan of Works.
  • On-site construction experience would be desirable.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.).
  • Excellent customer service skills, a passion for problem ownership, and a customer-first attitude.
  • Proven experience in priority setting, multitasking, and working with minimal direct supervision.
  • Bilingual (French and English) would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel to site and be mobile for projects.


Reason for Vacancy: Replacement

The expected pay range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 per year.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role
