Sr. Consultant, Client Service Investment Operations (CS Investment Ops)

The Sr. Consultant is a senior member of the Investment Operations Outsourcing (IOO) Client Service team, responsible for client service, operational governance, and strategic support across investment operations.

This role coordinates activities across clients, operational teams, and business partners while driving process improvements, operational excellence, and strategic initiatives. The position combines governance, operational leadership, and project execution, requiring strong analytical, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.

As part of IOO Transitions Governance, this role supports Investment Operations Outsourcing transition activity across regions, teams, and operating models. Responsibilities include providing governance and coordination throughout transition events by aligning stakeholders, monitoring key milestones, validating documentation, tracking risks and issues, and facilitating timely escalation and resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, high-quality client service by managing operational execution and governance while ensuring milestones, SLAs, and KPIs are achieved.
  • Lead and support internal, client-driven, and cross-functional change initiatives, overseeing process improvements from planning through implementation.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external partners, including business units, auditors, and stakeholders, while acting as a subject matter expert for client servicing and operational processes.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and business partners to support effective collaboration and service delivery.
  • Independently resolve client inquiries and operational issues, ensuring timely communication and follow-up while applying deep knowledge of the business unit and function.
  • Identify opportunities to improve technology, workflows, and service delivery, and present recommendations with clear implementation plans.
  • Drive change and support the establishment of operating procedures across stakeholders to strengthen governance, consistency, and sustainable execution.
  • Chair regular meetings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for team members by supporting knowledge sharing, onboarding, training, and cross-training to promote operational excellence.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client business needs, service commitments, and end-to-end process flows.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5-10+ years of relevant financial services experience.
  • Experience within Investment Operations, Asset Management, Asset Servicing, or Financial Services Operations.
  • Prior client service experience in a service-oriented environment.
  • Experience participating in business process improvements, operational enhancements, or technology initiatives.
  • Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft tools and ability to learn systems used within the business.
  • Strong understanding of investment operations and financial services industry practices.

Salary Range:

$74,700 - 126,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
