Job Summary

The Senior Cloud Storage Specialist is responsible for modernizing enterprise storage infrastructure through the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud-based storage solutions. This role focuses on transitioning from traditional on-premises environments (SAN, NAS) to cloud-native and hybrid architectures using platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Nutanix.

This position leads next-generation storage strategy initiatives to enhance performance, resilience, and cost optimization. Key responsibilities include architecting disaster recovery solutions leveraging cloud elasticity and hybrid infrastructure to ensure business continuity. The role requires strong technical expertise, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to align storage capabilities with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to incidents, service requests, and operational tasks in alignment with service level agreements.
  • Design and implement scalable cloud-based storage architectures including object, block, and file storage.
  • Lead migrations from legacy SAN/NAS environments to cloud and hybrid storage platforms.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery solutions using cloud-native technologies and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Analyze storage consumption to identify cost optimization opportunities and implement lifecycle management policies.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure governance, integration, and compliance.
  • Monitor performance, availability, and security across multi-cloud environments.
  • Establish storage standards, automation frameworks, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate and deploy advanced storage technologies in collaboration with vendors and technical stakeholders.
  • Support cloud financial management efforts by optimizing resource usage and controlling cloud costs.
  • Maintain infrastructure technologies following formal change management processes.
  • Lead or participate in technical implementation initiatives for storage solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert providing Level 3 cloud storage support.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24x7 operational coverage as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Hands-on experience working in cloud-based environments.
  • Proficiency with AWS and/or Azure storage services and related cloud technologies.
  • At least one relevant cloud certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across technical and business teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence and continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep expertise in cloud storage services such as AWS S3, EBS, Azure Blob, and File store.
  • Strong knowledge of SAN, NAS, object storage, and distributed storage systems.
  • Experience implementing disaster recovery solutions using cloud-native platforms and tools.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Cloud Formation.
  • Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Understanding of storage networking protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB) and security best practices.
  • Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud storage architectures.
  • Experience with cloud cost management and optimization strategies.
