Job Description

We are hiring for a Sr Senior Cloud Automation Engineer to advance our automation initiatives. This position focuses on architecting, engineering, and maintaining automation frameworks across hybrid cloud platforms. This role focuses heavily on Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipeline engineering, configuration management, security automation, and scalable orchestration patterns that enable fully automated infrastructure delivery.

Responsibilities

Design and implement automated provisioning workflows using IaC frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM/Bicep, or similar.

Develop reusable automation modules, policies, and templates for hybrid cloud infrastructure spanning Azure, VMware, Hyper-Converged platforms, and on-premises systems.

Engineer integration patterns between automation tooling and infrastructure platforms (compute, network, storage, security services).

CI/CD & DevOps Pipeline Architecture

Architect and manage complex Azure DevOps pipelines including YAML-based multi-stage deployments, automated testing suites, artifact management, environment promotion, and approval workflows.

Integrate CI/CD workflows with tools such as GitHub, FluxCD, Jenkins, Artifactory, and deployment automation platforms.

Implement secure pipeline practices: secrets management, identity integration, supply chain validation, and artifact integrity controls.

Configuration Management & Orchestration

Build and maintain automation logic using Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories, Orchestrator/AWX Tower integrations).

Develop automated remediation workflows, state-enforcement processes, and configuration drift management.

Enable automated OS builds, patching, baseline hardening, compliance scanning, and configuration governance.

Cloud Platform Engineering

Engineer hybrid cloud automation patterns for Azure, OCI, VMware, and on-prem HCI platforms.

Build service catalog integrations and self-service workflows for infrastructure delivery and lifecycle management.

Optimize infrastructure performance, resiliency, and cost through automation and orchestration pipelines.

Security Engineering & Compliance Automation

Implement automated controls that ensure platform hardening, identity enforcement, network policy compliance, and logging/telemetry coverage.

Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, and validation of automation workflows handling privileged operations.

Ensure all automated workflows comply with organizational security standards and industry best practices.

Technical Research & Platform Evolution

Evaluate emerging technologies in cloud automation, IaC, CI/CD tooling, and orchestration frameworks.

Drive adoption of platform engineering standards, reusable patterns, and automation best practices.

Maintain deep knowledge of vendor roadmaps and participate in technical escalations with cloud/service providers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically, 4 years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Ten years of related experience.

Three years of experience designing, creating CI/CD pipelines for various technologies using Azure DevOps or similar tools.

Three years of experience in containerization platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Tanzu. Azure DevOps certification (AZ-400) a big plus.

Demonstrated ability to engineer and operationalize continuous improvement across automation platforms, pipelines, and infrastructure services.

Strong understanding across Cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end-to-end Cloud Infrastructure architectures and designs.

Experienced in leading efforts to implement continuous improvements to all areas of pipeline automation and infrastructure services in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of overall automation capabilities.

Effective oral and written communication skills.
