Role Summary

The Senior Business Analyst plays a leading, cross-functional role in helping Rivian's Commercial Infrastructure organization establish clear, streamlined business processes that support efficient planning, execution, consistent outcomes, and effective operations.

Working closely with stakeholders, project teams, and cross-functional partners, the Senior Business Analyst helps teams define and evaluate different initiatives, highlighting the pros and cons of each strategic option available to the organization. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to present findings to upper management clearly and concisely. A key focus is helping the organization establish clearer ownership of business processes and of the information those processes produce. The Senior Business Analyst also supports business systems implementation projects as assigned - defining requirements, coordinating with stakeholders, and driving successful delivery and adoption across the organization.

Responsibilities

Business Process Definition & Improvement

• Translate complex commercial objectives into actionable business requirements with measurable outcomes.
• Define and evaluate strategic initiatives, laying out the trade-offs of each option for leadership decision-making.
• Help the organization establish clearer ownership of business processes and the data/information those processes generate.

Analytics, Modeling & Reporting

• Design and build scalable, reliable operational and financial models, dashboards, and reports for cross-functional teams and executives.
• Analyze complex business goals and needs using internal and external data sources to provide actionable insight to decision-makers.
• Use SQL, Hex, AI/BI, or similar visualization tools to investigate business questions and present findings clearly.
• Apply ETL, data pipeline, automation scripting (e.g., Python), or AI tools to streamline analysis and reporting.
• Deliver presentations and reports that translate technical findings into clear, business-oriented recommendations that influence decisions.

Systems Implementation & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Support business systems implementation projects: define requirements, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive delivery and adoption.
• Partner with product, engineering, and data analytics/data science teams to ensure requirements meet business needs and support successful product development and delivery.
• Work within Jira/sprint-based processes when collaborating with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related quantitative major, MBA is preferred
• 3+ years of experience in structuring, analyzing, and visualizing large data sets while support in a commercial operations organization
• Previous experience in management consulting firm, start-up, commercial operations, or commercial finance
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with a focus on root-cause investigation using data and visualization.
• Progressive work experience demonstrating the ability to communicate precisely while operating in ambiguity and building processes from the ground up.
• Project management skills, including managing multiple time-sensitive projects under strict deadlines within an environment transitioning from manual to automated processes.
• Experience owning KPI frameworks and governing metric definitions across complex, multi-stakeholder organizations.
• Fluency in data visualization tools such as AI/BI, Hex/Tableau, or similar, with experience shaping dashboard design and working directly with analytics or data engineering teams.
• Proficient with AI tools (e.g., Gemini, Claude, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate analysis, automate reporting, and support day-to-day analytical work.
• Proven ability to translate business questions into analytical requirements, and analytical findings back into business language.
• Strong narrative instincts - able to build the story behind the data clearly enough for executives to act on.
• Exceptional written communication and presentation skills; a track record of building executive-ready, decision-oriented materials.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Experience in automotive, retail, or other consumer-facing commercial operations preferred.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for 8-10 hours per day.
• Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail.
• Ability to view, read, and interpret documents.
• Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations.

Pay Disclosure

The salary range for this role is $107,800 to $134,800 for Irvine, CA based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
