The company was founded in 2015 by Alex Lieberman and Austin Rief while they were students at the University of Michigan. The newsletter has grown to over 2.5 million subscribers and the company has expanded to include a podcast, a job board, and a premium subscription service. Morning Brew was acquired by Business Insider in 2021.
