Provide asset management specialist services and software inventory control analysis to maintain consistent accountability of software assets supporting the SIE. The Software Asset Management Specialist ensures that software is properly received in an ITSM approved database and documented in accordance with USSOCOM requirements. The Sr. Asset Management Specialist will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of software assets across USSOCOM's IT Enterprise, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, optimizing software usage, and mitigating risks.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Track and manage software licenses purchased by the organization.
- Ensure proper usage and compliance with licensing agreements.
- Conduct regular audits to verify compliance with licensing agreements.
- Perform software license renewals to ensure legal compliance and reduce costs through timely purchasing.
- Create and provide reports on software assets, usage, and compliance to stakeholders.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of installed software and ensure licenses are available for all software in use.
- Analyze software usage data to optimize or consolidate software for effective and efficient use.
- Plan and budget for software upgrades to meet organizational needs.
- Manage relationships with software users to ensure their needs are met.
- Provide support to end-users experiencing software-related issues and resolve them promptly.
- Stay informed on the latest developments in software asset management and adopt best practices.
- Submit software quotes in SWEP V for purchasing licenses from approved vendors.
- Ensure authorized purchasing for better cybersecurity assurance.
- Recover unused software licenses to reduce costs and increase availability for new requirements.
- Reclaim licenses from removed/end-of-life workstations to prevent loss of funds.
- Add software to testing folders for certification testing of new products.
Required Qualifications:- DoD TS/SCI clearance or above is required.
- Have a demonstrated ability to communicate exceptionally well both orally and in writing, as well as have a positive customer service attitude.
- Strong proactive team player.
Preferred Qualifications:- ITIL v4
- Experience with USSOCOM's IT systems and operational environments.
- Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) software licensing policies and procedures.
- Expertise in software license audits and reconciliation processes.
- Strong understanding of warranty and maintenance coverage for software assets.
- Advanced reporting and communication skills to provide visibility into asset management effectiveness.
- Ability to recommend and implement process improvements to optimize software management.
Education:- High School Diploma with 12 years of experience OR AA + 10 yrs of experience OR BS + 8 years of experience OR MS + 6 years of experience
