Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Analyst IT Infrastructure Sr within our IT Field Network Permian Operations group. A successful candidate will help keep Oxy’s Permian field operations connected by supporting network and communications services across production, drilling, facilities, field office, telecommunications, and automation environments. This role works hands-on with field network infrastructure, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, documentation, ticket updates, vendor coordination, and timely service restoration. The position works closely with Operations, Automation, FNOC, Engineering, Cybersecurity, vendors, contractors, and other IT teams while following established support procedures and standards. Key Responsibilities: • Support safe field and office work practices while helping protect employees, contractors, customers, communities, and the environment. • Install, cable, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot field network and communications infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless access points, microwave, private LTE, satellite, fiber, telecommunications, cameras, and related site equipment. • Provide on-site and remote support for well pads, tank batteries, compressor sites, SWDs, field offices, communications facilities, towers, shelters, and other Permian locations. • Respond to incidents, alerts, service requests, and work orders; document actions, status, resolution steps, and handoffs in ServiceNow or other required systems. • Troubleshoot connectivity, power, cabling, wireless, routing/switching, telecom, and automation network issues using established support procedures and escalation paths. • Coordinate with FNOC, Operations, Automation, Telecom, Engineering, Cybersecurity, vendors, contractors, and business stakeholders to restore service and support field work. • Support planned maintenance, hardware replacements, lifecycle refreshes, standard configuration changes, firmware updates, field deployments, and site improvement activities. • Assist with site surveys, field construction support, facility commissioning, startup activities, vendor site access, work verification, and closeout documentation. • Maintain accurate documentation, including site records, inventories, as-builts, network diagrams, equipment details, support notes, and field procedures. • Identify recurring issues, field constraints, service degradation, and practical improvement opportunities that support reliability, maintainability, and service quality. • Participate in on-call rotations, after-hours maintenance windows, and emergency response activities when required. • Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications (listed in order of priority): Knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors (KSAB) required of the hired individual to be successful in the position. The hired individual must have each of the KSABs listed in this section to be considered for the position. Examples below. Required Qualifications: • 3+ years of experience supporting, installing, maintaining, or troubleshooting network, telecommunications, field technology, industrial technology, or related infrastructure. • Experience supporting routing, switching, wireless, telecommunications, fiber, LTE, microwave, satellite, SCADA/automation connectivity, or related field communication technologies. • Ability to safely work in oil and gas field environments, follow site safety requirements, and travel to remote Permian operating locations as required. • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot service issues, restore connectivity, escalate appropriately, and document work accurately. • Experience using ticketing, work order, monitoring, or network management tools to support incidents, service requests, changes, and field work. • Strong customer service, written communication, verbal communication, and teamwork skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow established procedures, and work independently with regular guidance in a field support environment. • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, after-hours support, and emergency restoration activities when required. Desired Qualification (listed in order of priority): Knowledge, skills and abilities that are not necessary for the hired individual to be successful in the position, but are preferred or desired characteristics. Example: A bachelor’s degree may be required but an MBA may be preferred. Desired Qualifications: • College degree or technical certification in Information Technology, Networking, Telecommunications, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience may be considered. • Experience supporting oil and gas production, drilling, field office, telecom, automation, utilities, industrial, or other distributed field environments. • Hands-on experience installing, cabling, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and restoring field network or telecommunications equipment. • Familiarity with Cisco routing and switching, SD-WAN concepts, wireless access points, private LTE/CBRS, microwave, satellite, fiber optics, structured cabling, cameras, or remote-site connectivity. • Experience coordinating with field operations, FNOC/NOC, Automation, Telecom, Engineering, Cybersecurity, vendors, contractors, and Service Desk teams during troubleshooting or field deployments. • Experience with ServiceNow, SolarWinds, monitoring dashboards, work orders, inventory records, network diagrams, as-builts, or operational support documentation. • Familiarity with field safety practices such as H2S awareness, electrical safety, driving safety, tower/shelter access, job safety analyses, and stop work authority. • Experience supporting planned maintenance, standard changes, hardware replacement, facility commissioning, site startups, or emergency outage response. • Ability to identify recurring service issues, document field evidence, and recommend practical improvements to support reliability, maintainability, and service quality.
