Job Description

Outstanding opportunity for a mechanical engineer with Gas Turbine experience interested in joining the Legacy Engines, APU & Adv Tech Turbine group. The scope of the work will include performing, and providing technical expertise on cooled and uncooled turbine components design and analysis, support turbine hardware fabrication, support engine testing, data reduction and validation of analysis models. In addition, the candidate would participate in teams which support internally and externally funded research programs with the emphasis of improving Turbine stress and lifing capabilities.

You will participate in teams to resolve complex engineering problems and have an effective listening skills and flexibility in approach to resolve complex engineering problems. You will contribute to proposals to address future business opportunities, value engineering and program/process changes.

You work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in cooled and uncooled turbine mechanical design efforts and be technically responsible for projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of stress, fatigue, creep, burst, crack growth, and probabilistic lifing, as applied to turbine component design.
  • Mechanical design and analysis expertise for specific turbines components like nozzles, blades, disk and seal plates
  • Lead development of new and innovative concepts for stress and weight reduction.
  • Champion turbine design system continuous improvement initiatives, through lessons learned, best practices, and comparative benchmarking, to achieve design cycle time reduction and development cost reduction for mechanical and lifing analysis.
  • Participate in engine test activities pertinent to turbine components strength and life validation and qualification, selecting instrumentation, creating test plan and participating in engine test activities.
  • Responsible for working with associated enterprise project engineers and product chiefs to support development of new growth engines as well as supporting existing fielded engine.
  • Drive the development and implementation of strategies in support of the Turbines department's vision and objectives, ultimately supporting Honeywell's vision and objectives.
  • Champion efforts to supply world class customer satisfaction to the enterprise customers through formulating strategic plans, developing advanced innovative products, program support, and technical leadership.
  • Communicate technical results to internal and external customer senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated abilities to mentor junior engineers in the team.


Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in gas turbine engineering and turbine component design and analysis.

  • Proficient in using FEA tools such as ANSYS (Structural).
  • Experienced in using NX, APDL, GOM, MATLAB, DARWIN.
  • Strong teamwork skills, able to work in variety of team roles within cross-functional team.
  • Experience in working with global teams across time zones.
  • Must be dedicated to customer satisfaction and demonstrated the capability to establish and maintain strong business and personal relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
