Scope of Position
This detailed individual, as part of the tekmar finance team, will be responsible for an integral role in core accounting operations, financial analysis, and internal and external reporting. Reporting to the Sr. Finance Manager, this position will provide hands-on execution and leadership in the month-end close process, balance sheet integrity, inventory and standard cost accounting, project accounting, internal controls, and compliance activities.
The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting deliverables while leveraging strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex data, deliver meaningful financial insights, and support management decision-making.
This position has no direct reports.
This position reports to the Senior Finance Manager. This role is onsite and is based in Vernon, BC.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
30 Leads the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, ensuring the integrity of financial accounts and compliance with applicable reporting requirements.
30 Owns standard costing processes, margin impact analysis, inventory accounting, inventory count reconciliations, excess and obsolete inventory reserve analysis, and manufacturing variance reviews.
30 Prepares and reviews monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely financial reporting.
30 Supports financial forecasting and annual operating planning processes.
30 Assists the Sr. Finance Manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
30 Reviews and posts accounts payable transactions and general ledger vouchers.
30 Prepares ad hoc financial reports and analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
30 Supports intercompany project accounting, planning, and reporting activities.
30 Supports compliance activities for GST/HST, PST, Statistics Canada, and corporate tax requirements.
30 Participates in projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes within the ERP and supporting systems. Maintains a strong understanding of complex multi-company and multi-currency ERP environments and supports ERP implementations and financial system enhancements.
30 Acts as liaison with Corporate Payroll & Benefits to ensure accurate payroll-related inputs, reconcile results, post accounting entries, and prepare accruals.
30 Maintains flexibility to work outside regular business hours as required to support month-end and year-end close activities.
30 Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Sr Finance Manager or Company management.
30 Travel Requirements: 5% to Canadian and US locations as applicable

Required Qualifications
30 Bachelors degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.
30 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
30 Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and analysis, month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, costing and internal controls. Prior experience in a manufacturing business is a plus.
30 Experience with payroll systems and payroll accounting, including payroll tax requirements, earnings and benefit calculations, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entry preparation.
30 Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Capable of effectively manipulating, modeling, and organizing large amounts of data.
30 Experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems.
30 Demonstrated ability to review complex accounting entries, identify root causes, resolve issues, and communicate financial impacts clearly to finance and operations stakeholders.
30 Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
30 Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including a criminal record check and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
30 Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
30 Proficiency with IFS ERP, SAP, Power BI and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) would be a asset.
30 Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accuracy under tight deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
30 Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential

Working Conditions
While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Vernon BC location (Monday 6 Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Pay Range
The expected salary range for this position is $85,000-$99,000 yearly. Tekmar offers a competitive bonus structure, and, an additional vacation time accrual. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
