About the Role:

IMAX is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Contract Specialist to support the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering commercial agreements. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Legal, this role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure contracts align with business objectives, contractual obligations are effectively managed, and commercial risks are appropriately identified and addressed.

The Legal Contract Specialist will also play an important role in improving contract workflows, maintaining legal documentation and systems, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Legal team. This role is ideal for a proactive and adaptable professional who combines strong contract management expertise with exceptional organizational skills and an interest in using technology, automation, and AI to improve legal processes.

Responsibilities

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer commercial agreements, including theatre agreements, vendor and supplier agreements, NDAs, service agreements, amendments, change orders, and Statements of Work (SOWs)

  • Review contractual terms and identify commercial risks, obligations, and key business considerations

  • Maintain and update contract templates to align with company policies and applicable requirements

  • Coordinate contract negotiations with Legal and cross-functional stakeholders to support timely execution

Contract Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and optimize contract databases and lifecycle management systems, including tracking key dates, renewals, deliverables, and obligations

  • Identify opportunities to streamline contract workflows through automation, AI, and process improvements

  • Support the implementation and optimization of contract lifecycle management tools

  • Develop consistent processes and documentation to improve efficiency and reduce contractual risk

Risk, Compliance & Documentation

  • Support the identification and mitigation of commercial and contractual risks

  • Help ensure agreements comply with company policies, contractual standards, and applicable requirements

  • Prepare, proofread, and format contracts, correspondence, reports, and other legal documentation

  • Maintain accurate and organized legal records to support accessibility, compliance, and reporting

Cross-Functional & Legal Team Support

  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, Operations, and other business teams to align contractual requirements with business objectives

  • Serve as a key point of coordination throughout the contract review and approval process

  • Support the Legal team with project tracking, documentation, scheduling, and other administrative requirements

  • Manage multiple contract and departmental priorities in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Paralegal or Law Clerk diploma, or equivalent professional experience in contract management or legal support

  • 5–10 years of experience in contract management, legal operations, paralegal, law clerk, or related roles within a corporate or law firm environment

  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, amendments, change orders, and SOWs

  • Experience identifying contractual obligations and commercial risks

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and adapt to changing business requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with contract lifecycle management and e-signature platforms such as Ironclad, DocuSign, or ServiceNow

  • Experience using AI, automation, or workflow tools within legal or contract management processes

  • Degree in Business Administration, Contract/Construction Law, or a related discipline

  • Experience supporting legal and contracting activities within a complex, global organization

$74,430.90 / 74.430,90$ - $86,836.05 / 86.836,05$ (per year / par an) Final pay within this range will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and the geographic location of the role.
