Position Title: Senior SQL Developer / Data Engineer

About the Team
The Treasury & Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) Technology team delivers critical data, reporting, and analytics solutions that support Treasury, Finance, Risk, and regulatory functions across TD.
As part of the Reporting Platform team, you will be a key developer supporting a business-critical reporting ecosystem used across TBSM. The platform includes a large-scale SQL data warehouse, data integration services, reporting solutions, and cloud modernization initiatives. You will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, architects, and data specialists across multiple locations to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions.
What You'll Do
As a Senior SQL Developer / Data Engineer you will support and evolve a business-critical reporting and data platform used across the Treasury and Balance Sheet Management department (TBSM). More specifically, you will:
- Design, develop, and support scalable database solutions, reporting data models, and data pipelines supporting business-critical reporting and analytics.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and ETL processes to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Perform data modeling, database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting within large-scale enterprise data environments.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and developers to deliver reporting, data integration, and analytics solutions.
- Support production investigations, root cause analysis, and ongoing platform enhancements.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives involving big data technologies, cloud platforms, automation, and DevOps practices.
- Apply software engineering best practices including source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development tools.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in software development, database engineering, data engineering, or related technical disciplines
- Strong hands-on Microsoft SQL Server development experience, including complex SQL development, stored procedures, functions, and database programming.
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable data models and enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Expertise in query optimization, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and database performance troubleshooting.
- Experience building and supporting ETL, data integration, or data engineering solutions.
- Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, Spark SQL, or other big data technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Java and Spring Boot development experience.
- .NET / C# development experience.
- Azure Databricks experience.
- Python development experience.
- Experience with Tableau and/or Power BI
- Experience with cloud data platforms and modernization programs.
- Financial services, treasury, risk management, or regulatory reporting experience.
