Data Analyst - Performance Insights

Turn Data into Decisions That Drive Performance

This is a hands-on, technically deep role for someone who enjoys getting into the data, solving messy problems, and figuring out the "why" behind performance. You'll work with operational, clinical, workforce, and financial data from across BHG's national network of treatment centers, turning it into insights that help leaders make better decisions and improve performance at the clinic, market, regional, and enterprise level.

This is not a report-refresh role. You'll write complex SQL directly against source systems, build Power BI dashboards from the ground up, reconcile imperfect data across multiple systems, investigate performance trends, and automate recurring reporting. Just as importantly, you'll help translate the numbers into a clear story leaders can understand and act on.

What You'll Do

Build the Data Foundation

• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL, including multi-table joins, aggregations, subqueries, CTEs, and window functions.
• Build reusable queries, views, and datasets that support dashboards, recurring reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
• Clean, normalize, and reconcile data across EHR, financial, workforce, and operational systems.
• Establish reliable definitions and calculation logic for key performance indicators.
• Build validation checks that identify data quality issues before information reaches leadership.
• Maintain documented, repeatable queries and reporting logic so analyses can be reproduced and expanded.

Find the Story Behind the Numbers

• Turn open-ended questions from executive, operational, and clinical leaders into structured analysis.
• Investigate the drivers behind changes in clinic and market performance.
• Analyze performance across locations, markets, regions, and territories to identify trends, outliers, opportunities, and replicable best practices.
• Distinguish between what the data supports and what requires further investigation.
• Deliver clear, answer-first insights that help leaders determine where attention and action are needed.

Own Power BI Reporting

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards end to end, including data models, relationships, DAX measures, visual design, publication, and refresh management.
• Create intuitive reporting that allows leaders to move from an enterprise view down to individual clinic performance.
• Design dashboards that surface exceptions, trends, and areas requiring action rather than simply displaying data.
• Manage refresh schedules, gateway connections, workspace structure, and appropriate access.
• Continuously improve dashboard functionality, usability, and performance.

Automate and Improve

• Build recurring daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for executive leadership and field operations.
• Automate reporting through scheduled refreshes, parameterized queries, scripted extracts, subscriptions, and other tools.
• Turn frequently repeated ad hoc requests into standing reporting products.
• Identify and eliminate unnecessary manual work from reporting and data processes.
• Own the accuracy and timely delivery of assigned reporting.

Partner Across the Business

• Work closely with the Transformation Management Office and leaders across Operations, Clinical, Finance, Human Resources, and IT.
• Help define and measure the performance indicators that matter most to BHG's transformation and operational priorities.
• Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Document KPI definitions, reporting logic, data sources, SQL queries, and refresh dependencies.
• Protect confidential and protected health information and comply with HIPAA and other applicable requirements.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or another quantitative or analytical discipline.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or operational analytics.
• Advanced SQL skills with the ability to independently write, debug, and optimize complex queries.
• Hands-on Power BI development experience, including data modeling, DAX, report design, publication, and refresh management. Strong experience with Tableau or a comparable BI platform may be considered with the ability to transition to Power BI.
• Experience turning messy, incomplete, or multi-source data into reliable datasets.
• Experience automating recurring reporting and reducing manual data work.
• Strong analytical judgment and the ability to structure and solve ambiguous problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make complex findings understandable.
• High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership for data accuracy and integrity.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, multi-site healthcare, or another distributed service organization.
• Experience working with EHR or healthcare operational data.
• Advanced Power BI skills, including Power Query/M, complex DAX, dataflows, incremental refresh, and row-level security.
• Python or R experience for data cleaning and automation.
• Familiarity with data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, or modern data warehouse environments.
• Experience developing operational or clinical KPI dashboards and scorecards for field and executive leadership.
• Experience bringing operational, clinical, workforce, and financial data together to provide a complete view of performance.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query and data modeling.

You're someone who doesn't stop at reporting that a number changed. You want to understand why it changed, whether the data can be trusted, what it means, and what someone should pay attention to next.

You're comfortable working without a perfect dataset or perfectly defined question. You know when to dig deeper, when to challenge an assumption, and when a data limitation needs to be called out. You build things to be repeatable and automated rather than solving the same problem manually over and over.

Most importantly, you can move comfortably between the technical details and the business conversation.
