Overview

The Composite Manufacturing Research & Technology team is looking for an Engineering Technical Analyst with extensive Composite Fabrication experience to guide Estimating, fabrication and Report Out activities in support of multiple commercial and defense research projects. In this role you will work with engineering teams, materials & process teams, and program teams, to collaboratively guide technical solutions from the lab to the factory floor.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:
  • Apply knowledge of aerospace mechanical/structural component fabrication and assembly processes and technologies to support metallic fabrication research and development strategies and plans.
  • Design, develop, verify, apply, and implement experimental technologies and improvements to established fabrication technologies.
  • Support multi-functional teams in the above effort, coordinate the identification and capture of cost and weight savings, and assist in strategic technology planning.
  • Research, design, develop and analyze materials, tools, products, and their related fabrication and assembly processes to develop and optimize for use in engineering design of and/or application in aero systems structures, systems and subsystems.
  • Develop, analyze, and apply material properties and design allowables, processing methods, and quality engineering specifications and standards to metallic fabrication projects.
  • Review engineering drawings and documents for part conformance and assist in resolving part failure analysis for fabrication, assembly and in service problems.
  • Implement concepts and designs, analyze prototype systems, equipment, and processes, and verify compliance with customer requirements, company policy, procedures and guidelines, and governmental regulations.
  • Facilitate technology implementation in production and provide support to the user community.
  • Determine the feasibility of new design, modeling, and fabrication techniques, as well as investigate and analyze problems to restore the quality and functionality of products and processes.
  • Oversee fabrication of test parts and components in support of metallic fabrication research projects
  • Assist with programming and sustainment of lab machining assets

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of related experience with fabrication and machining technology
  • 5+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with CATIA or other equivalent CAD programs
  • Engineering and technical drawing interpretation knowledge
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understand Estimating and Budgets
  • Experience utilizing various Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as Office 365 and Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word, Teams and Visio
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, procedures and specifications
  • 3+ years' experience in project management, developing and sustaining large complex projects
  • Ability to quickly familiarize with factory manufacturing processes
  • Experience working with a multi-functional team on technical manufacturing projects
  • Experience working in a research and development environment
  • Ability to take initiative and seek creative Composite fabrication solutions

Summary Pay Range: $78,100 - $119,700

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
