Mayo Clinic in Rochester is seeking a medical Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our nationally recognized team. This position requires clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders in the inpatient acute, 36 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit serving all ages, and potential for outpatient settings. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the SLP will contribute to patient-centered care through evidence-based assessment and intervention in alignment with Mayo Clinic's high standards of excellence.

Department-Specific Responsibilities and Skills
  • Experience evaluating and treating adults with neurogenic communication impairments, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, and cognitive-communication deficits.
  • Independence in performing Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS).
  • Proficiency or interest in administering Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) preferred.
  • Prior experience is preferred in managing highly medically complex patients, ICU and PCU level of care, brain injury, and trach/vent management
  • Experience or interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for adult and/or pediatric populations desired.


Qualifications

  • Master of Science (MS) or Master of Art (MA) degree in Speech-Language Pathology, or Master of Speech Pathology (MSP)Specific to Department of Neurology.

License/Certifications:
  • Allied Health Staff in the Division of Speech Pathology are encouraged to achieve Board Certification by the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences (BC-ANCDS) and/or awarded Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders by the American Board of Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (BCS-S).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or participating in an ASHA Clinical Fellowship Year supervised by a Mayo Clinic speech-language pathologist certified by ASHA.
  • Licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Health in Speech-Language Pathology
