Job Description:

The Quality Engineer shall assure reliable product is being delivered to our customers on time, meeting or exceeding expectations and specifications. The candidate should be an experienced professional with a working knowledge of Quality Assurance practices and principles, have a general understanding of the requirements of AS9100 Rev D and have ability to support other assigned tasks such as audits, manufacturing process reviews, failure trend analysis, etc. Interface and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. Ability to make sound, investigative and resourceful decisions based on facts. Work with teams to identify and implement continuous improvements to processes and products.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, and vendor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement program quality plans and procedures as needed.
  • Conduct contract review and flow down requirements to the supply chain and other functional groups.
  • Provide technical support and training to Inspection department and generate inspection plans as needed.
  • Analyze quality data for trends, investigate issues and develop corrective/preventive actions accordingly. Present out on findings accordingly to Internal and Executive Corrective Action Review Boards.
  • Support the material review board (MRB) and provide dispositions accordingly for nonconforming product, inlcuding communicating with customers for approvals as required.
  • Review and approve engineering specifications such as ATPs, drawings, models, manufacturing work instructions, and ensure adequacy, quality, and compliance to specification and contractual requirements. Make recommendations for updates as needed.
  • Support Design Reviews, Production Readiness Reviews, and other program interface meetings.
  • Perform internal process audits, compile reports and recommend any needed remedial actions. Similarly support external/customer audits.
  • Review and approve first article inspection (FAI) reports in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Support Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) charter and other continuous improvement activities and lead assigned projects.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field and a minimum of 4 years of experience in quality engineering; OR an associate degree or 2 years of post-secondary education and a minimum of 8 years of experience in quality engineering; OR a graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in quality engineering.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 4+ years Aerospace/Defense Industry experience
  • 4+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and a good working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • AS 9100/ISO 9001 quality system experience.
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly, soldering, machining, paint and/or fiberglass/composite processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of APQP, SPC, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, RCCA problem solving methodologies, Lean/Six Sigma and exposure to a "Zero Defects" business operating environment.
  • Working knowledge of industry specs/standards as it relates to materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., ASTM, ASE, MIL specs, etc.).
  • Familiar with FAA/EASA regulatory requirements for TSO applications and repair station operations in accordance with FAR Part 145.
  • Providing QA inputs for proposals.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $73,000 - $135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
