About the Role

The Specialist, Human Resources delivers people solutions in support of business objectives, and SFU's people plan. The position supports and guides a full scope of HR and organization development functions and initiatives such as recruitment, learning & development, onboarding, talent movement, performance development, workforce planning and ensures the overall delivery of effective practices, procedures and documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related discipline and three years of general human resources experience in a complex, unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to advise, guide and coach managers/clients to support resolutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources best practices, principles and relevant legislation and regulations
  • Solid organization and project management skills to accurately work with high data volumes, workflows and meet deadlines.
  • CPHR certification an asset.

The pay range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for the position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
