PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION IN SQUAMISH VALLEY

Are you a compassionate, culturally grounded, and dedicated social worker committed to supporting children, youth, and families? Squamish Nation is seeking a Case Social Worker to join the Ayás Ménmen Child and Family Support Services team.

This role is integral to protecting and strengthening families while ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and cultural connection of Squamish children. As a delegated social worker, you will play a key role in guardianship, advocacy, and case management-supporting children in care and their families through meaningful, culturally informed services rooted in Sḵwxwú7mesh values.

What You'll Do
  • Develop individualized care plans and support children, youth, and families through service coordination and advocacy.
  • Manage a caseload of child protection and family support cases, including investigations of abuse or neglect.
  • Conduct intakes, assessments, home visits, and referrals in accordance with Squamish Nation policy and child welfare legislation.
  • Fulfill guardianship responsibilities for children in care, ensuring safety, wellbeing, and connection to culture and community.
  • Coordinate placements, including foster and extended family care, and support permanency planning.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate case documentation, reports, and records suitable for court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Child and Family Development, legal counsel, and other stakeholders on case planning and court matters.
  • Provide ongoing support, training, and assessment for foster families and caregivers.
  • Promote community awareness and education on child protection, family supports, and available services.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case management and team collaboration.
  • Travel to Squamish Valley as required to support service delivery.
  • Perform additional related duties to support departmental goals.

What We're Looking For
  • Designation as a C4/Level 13 Social Worker (or ability to obtain within a set timeframe).
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of directly related experience in child welfare, social work, or case management.
  • Knowledge of First Nations child welfare and cultural practices is strongly preferred.
  • Strong case management, assessment, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Valid BC Driver's License (Class 4 or 5) and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and travel as required.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Salary: $80,026 - $120,040

Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
