What you'll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck and rugged SUV marketplace. As a Drive Train CFT Engineer, you will act as a key technical interface between product, production, and quality throughout pre-series, pilot, and series production phases.

You will be responsible for the following:
  • Act as the technical lead for electric drive train systems within the Pilot Hall environment.
  • Support production teams in achieving daily build targets, quality objectives, and launch milestones.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve drive train, e-motor, gearbox, and system integration issues to ensure stable and repeatable production.
  • Define, implement, and track short-term and long-term containment actions for deviations related to product design, component quality, or assembly processes.
  • Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and issue resolution.
  • Identify and proactively address equipment, tooling, process, or communication gaps to minimize downtime and production delays.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional team meetings, ensuring alignment, transparency, and timely escalation of risks and blockers.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and drive sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks and process inefficiencies impacting production flow and drive train quality.
  • Provide technical instruction, coaching, and guidance on required methods, standards, and regulations.
  • Track, coordinate, and support special build events, validation builds, and pilot runs within the Pilot Hall assembly team.
  • Ensure effective knowledge transfer and training of team members to strengthen technical capability and production readiness.

In this role, you will hold end-to-end responsibility for all drive train-related topics within Pilot Hall while actively developing and supporting the team.

Location & Travel Expectations:
  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
  • This role requires daily attendance in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in vehicle or powertrain production, with a focus on stabilizing, optimizing, and launching production processes.
  • A Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience gained through multiple years of hands-on work in automotive production or electric drive systems.
  • Strong ability to navigate complex organizations and collaborate effectively across production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Proven structured and analytical problem-solving skills to address technical and process-related challenges.
  • Sound judgment and a data-driven mindset to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • High proficiency in DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans to ensure robust and stable quality processes.
  • Experience using metrology equipment, measurement systems, and reports to validate products and drive continuous improvement.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $100,000.00 - $125,000.00
