Job Description

BCS Allegient is currently hiring a Deltek Costpoint Specialist to join our team. This position requires the ability to be onsite in Arlington, VA as needed.

Responsibilities

The Deltek Costpoint Specialist is a vital member of the team responsible for serving as the dedicated owner of the Deltek Costpoint environment, ensuring system integrity, data fidelity, and reporting accuracy so that leadership can make business decisions on Costpoint data with full confidence. This individual maintains and supports the system directly, without reliance on outside consultants or third-party vendor support.

The Deltek Costpoint Specialist will have a particular focus on establishing trustworthy Project Status Report (PSR) data, governing saved parameters and reports, and resolving data and reporting issues directly at the source. The role spans system administration, financial and project controls, compliance and audit, reporting and analytics, and integrations.

The Deltek Costpoint Specialist will manage the daily operation, configuration, and optimization of the system and support Accounting and Operations throughout the financial cycle, including the following:
  • Manage daily system administration, including user setup, license management, role-based security, and overall system configuration.
  • Maintain documentation and system evidence for internal and external audits, including DCAA.
  • Configure and optimize Costpoint modules (People, Time & Expense, Accounting, Projects, Contracts) to support evolving business processes.
  • Support indirect rate tracking, project setup, budgeting, billing, and revenue recognition.
  • Audit and validate data fidelity across the system, with priority on PSR data and its reconciliation against the Revenue Worksheet and Project Ledger.
  • Govern saved parameters, reports, and configurations, removing obsolete or erroneous entries and establishing standards and naming conventions.
  • Develop and maintain custom Cognos reports, SQL queries, and Costpoint Business Intelligence dashboards.
  • Ensure DCAA-compliant timekeeping, accurate labor distribution, and sound internal controls over the accounting system in accordance with DFARS business system requirements.
  • Direct and assist Accounting with data entry standards, ensuring information is entered correctly at the source.
  • Support and help streamline month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Manage data flows and integrations between Costpoint and external systems (e.g., ADP and CRM tools).
  • Apply configuration changes, test patches, and manage internal aspects of upgrades while monitoring performance and data integrity.
  • Provide front-end user support and troubleshoot system issues directly.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and other departments to map and proceduralize critical business processes that enhance data quality and process efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on Deltek Costpoint experience (version 8.x or later), sufficient to maintain and support the system without outside consulting support.
  • Demonstrated experience stabilizing or cleaning up a Costpoint environment, not only operating a well-maintained one.
  • Proficiency with SQL and the Costpoint data schema, with the ability to write queries against Costpoint tables to validate data, trace report figures to their source, and identify and remove erroneous saved parameters independently.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cognos report development, Costpoint Business Intelligence, Workflow Designer, and Extensibility Designer.
  • Advanced understanding of Government Contracting (GovCon) accounting rules, including the FAR, DFARS, and CAS frameworks, as well as DCAA requirements.
  • Experience managing integrations and data flows between Costpoint and external systems such as ADP and CRM tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft environment (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
  • Strong process mapping, requirements gathering, cross-departmental stakeholder management, and troubleshooting skills.

Desired Qualifications
  • Deltek Costpoint certification(s).
  • Experience in a small to mid-size government contractor environment.
