Experience: 2 years as a radiologic technologist or at least one year in Special Procedures/Vascular Interventional Radiology
License: South Carolina Clienttion Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification
Certifications: ARRT Radiography (R) Certification, BLS through the American Heart Association
Must-Have: Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Description: Following established protocol and under medical supervision, Special Procedures Technologists perform procedures for the direct results of interpretation.
Technologists assist on procedures as needed and supervise student Radiologic Technologists assigned to them.
They encourage and maintain good customer relations.
Frequent personal contact with patients, staff, physicians, student technologists, and employees is required.
Responsible for the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures utilizing age-appropriate care.
Following established protocols, clinical staff will perform procedures for the direct results of interpretations.
They obtain the correct written order for procedures.
Efficient use of time is essential to accomplish patient care assignments while meeting work quality, quantity, and timeliness expectations.
Technologists assist in the clinical education of student technologists.
Efficient utilization of imaging equipment with attention to minimizing repeat examinations is crucial.
They use supplies with an emphasis on cost containment.
Technologists instruct and prepare patients regarding imaging procedures and assist in obtaining informed consent as needed.
They ensure patients' understanding of procedures and communicate with family members regarding discharge instructions.
Technologists respond actively and sensitively to the needs of internal and external customers.
They ensure correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical histories are entered into the computer system.
Communication with Radiologists regarding procedures is necessary, along with effective verbal and written communication skills.
A positive and professional demeanor is essential.
Adherence to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures is required.
Practicing good radiation protection and following established guidelines is mandatory.
Technologists must practice radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles.
They complete annual mandatory in-services and maintain current licensure requirements.
Support and promotion of department efforts in meeting established projects and goals are expected.
Confidentiality of medical and sensitive information must be maintained.
Technologists assist other members of the Imaging Team and other disciplines, including clerical staff, to maintain records, reports, and files.
They consistently offer help wherever needed and function as team players.
Demonstrating flexibility and accountability in job duties is essential.
Taking initiative towards improving departmental operations is encouraged.
Technologists may perform other job duties and responsibilities as required.
A mature individual who projects a professional appearance is required.
Strict confidentiality of work-related information must be maintained.
