Job Description and Responsibilities

TheraPeds Partners is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a temporary, full-time school-based assignment in Taylor, Michigan. This position is available for the and supports a K-2 cross-categorical classroom serving students with a variety of learning needs. If you enjoy working in collaborative educational settings and helping young learners build strong academic and functional skills, we'd love to hear from you.
Position Details
  • Full-time school-based opportunity with a 37.5-hour weekly schedule
  • Short-term assignment: September 2026 through December 2026
  • Part of the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Fully on-site, in-person assignment
  • Support students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade
  • Work in a cross-categorical classroom serving students with a variety of learning, developmental, and behavioral support needs
  • Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families to support student success and individualized educational goals
  • Guaranteed paid hours include direct services, documentation, planning, meetings, and administrative responsibilities
  • Manageable caseloads and a collaborative school environment designed to support high-quality student services
  • Ongoing collaboration and support from both the partnering school district and the TheraPeds Partners team
  • $50-$60+ per hour, based on experience, with estimated weekly earnings of approximately $1,875-$2,250+


What You'll Do

You'll provide specialized instruction and educational support designed to help students achieve success both academically and socially while maintaining compliance with special education requirements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Serving as case manager for assigned students
  • Conducting educational assessments and participating in evaluation activities
  • Providing individualized, small-group, and classroom-based instruction
  • Supporting academic achievement and executive functioning development
  • Collaborating with general education teachers to facilitate successful inclusion opportunities
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies based on data and individual needs
  • Maintaining accurate records, progress reports, and required special education documentation
  • Partnering with families, therapists, administrators, and school staff to create coordinated student support plans
  • Creating a structured, positive classroom environment that encourages learning, confidence, and independence
  • Providing guidance and instructional support to paraprofessionals and classroom staff serving students with special needs


Requirements

  • Teaching Certification, Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education
  • State License as as SPED teacher
  • 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience working with children
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Fingerprint background clearance
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications


Physical Requirements

Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
