Description

The Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Solicitor General, Criminal Appeals Division isseeking highly motivated attorneys interested in public service and upholding the rule of law to join our teamof legal professionals. The Division is responsible for representing the Commonwealth of Kentucky in allcriminal appeals before the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Kentucky Supreme Court, and in defending againstpost-conviction challenges in state and federal court.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Performing case-related research.
  • Drafting briefs and other appellate documents.
  • Working with a team of other lawyers.
  • Participating in oral arguments.
  • Conducting hearings as needed.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Be admitted to the Kentucky bar or eligible to seek admission to the Kentucky bar by examination ormotion.
  • Have strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Have a basic understanding of the criminal justice system and a desire to represent the Commonwealth inpost-conviction criminal litigation with emphasis on cases of extraordinary complexity or importance in stateand federal courts.
