Full Job Description
Turion Space is seeking a Mid-Level Spacecraft Integration Engineer to join our growing team in Irvine, CA. The Spacecraft Integration Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for complex spacecraft systems. This role is critical to ensuring our spacecraft are built to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety from mechanical integration through electrical assembly. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing anomalies, develop and refine processes, and drive efficiency across the production floor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Design: Support the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and procedures in line with industry best practices. Assist in specifying manufacturing equipment and tooling to improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to resolve production issues, including equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and quality problems.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, procedures, and changes. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure seamless integration of new products and processes. Facilitate communication and coordination between teams.
  • Project Management: Contribute to manufacturing projects, including the introduction of new processes, technologies, and production lines. Support project timelines, resource tracking, and performance reporting under the direction of senior staff.
  • Quality Assurance: Apply quality control standards to ensure products meet specifications. Participate in root cause analysis and support corrective action implementation for identified quality issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-On Manufacturing Experience (Required): Demonstrated hands-on experience assembling, integrating, or testing complex hardware systems, with technical depth in identifying defects and non-conformances.
  • Electro-Mechanical Integration: Proven experience working on complex, bespoke electro-mechanical systems with a strong emphasis on mechanical integration and solid working knowledge of electrical integration.
  • Anomaly Resolution: Demonstrated ability to identify, investigate, and resolve manufacturing anomalies on complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in an integration, assembly, or manufacturing engineering role, with a working understanding of integration processes and quality standards. Prior lead experience is a plus but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in manufacturing software and tools (e.g., CAD, MRP systems). Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and equipment management.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and clearly present technical information.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Industry Experience: 5+ years of manufacturing or integration engineering experience in aerospace or another complex, high-tech industry.
  • Advanced Skills: Familiarity with process optimization methodologies and a desire to grow expertise in advanced manufacturing techniques and technology integration.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in manufacturing or quality management (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Manufacturing) are a plus.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and systems

Spacecraft Integration Engineer Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 USD
