Position Description:

The Space Sector Technical Director is responsible for bridging the gap between Space Sector leadership and technical leads across CGI Federal, ensuring tight integration between growth strategy, technical vision, and mission execution for customers primarily within NASA and the U.S. Space Force.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Technical Director for the Space Sector will lead strategic initiatives, including attending, participating, and contributing to business development and pipeline, strategy, and annual planning meetings. This role will directly support strategic pursuits and modernization initiatives aligned to enterprise IT transformation, cloud migration, Zero Trust, cyber resilience, mission IT modernization, and emerging space-domain capabilities. Emphasis will be modernization, transformation, cloud migration, and hyperscaler partnerships ideally with deep AWS experience. Additionally, the Space Sector Technical Director should bring some experience in MBSE, System Development, Software or Application Development, Hardware Engineering, Operations, System Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Information Assurance or Cyber Security, ITIL Framework, and Agile DevSecOps Development. They must demonstrate an ability to lead development of solutions through technical solution sessions both internally and with partners. Ability to write white papers, RFI/RFP responses, provide proposal content, as well as coordinating trade studies, product evaluations, research, and participating in client engagement activities.
This position is located in Hunstville, AL.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Work with Space Sector operations and business development personnel to understand NASA and U.S. Space Force customer needs and lead the development of compelling, executable solutions to specific requirements (enterprise IT and mission IT).
. Serve as a senior technical growth leader supporting NASA, Space Force, MDA, and federal civilian opportunities
. Lead technical strategy and solutioning for enterprise IT modernization, cloud transformation, cybersecurity, Zero Trust, DevSecOps, and mission IT programs
. Partner closely with capture, BD, and delivery leadership to shape and mature strategic pursuits
. Bring solutions forward through white papers, presentations, and RFI/RFP responses, including technical volumes and integrated solution narratives.
. Support technical volume development, architecture reviews, discriminators, and proposal strategy
. Build customer relationships across CIO, CTO, CISO, and mission leadership communities both at CGI and within the Federal Government.
. Develop differentiated technical approaches and modernization roadmaps for large-scale pursuits
. Strengthen and leverage hyperscaler partnerships (especially AWS) to improve technical differentiation and execution credibility (e.g., reference architectures, migration patterns, joint solutioning as appropriate).
. Help recruit, mentor, and grow technical talent within the Space Sector.
. Contribute to CGI Federal's thought leadership and technical positioning across the federal space ecosystem
. Develop and coordinate communications plans, marketing messages, and capability materials to support Space Sector opportunity pursuits, Sources Sought, RFIs, and RFPs.
. Assess and analyze innovative technical capabilities that align with Space Sector strategic direction (enterprise IT, mission IT modernization, cloud migration, and transformation).
. Proactively communicate and collaborate with Space Sector leadership to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 10+ years supporting federal IT modernization, mission IT, cloud, cyber, or space-related
. Strong experience supporting large federal pursuits and technical solutioning
. Deep understanding of enterprise modernization, hybrid cloud, cybersecurity, and Zero Trust architectures
. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with team members, customers, and support personnel.
. Ability to present and explain technical artifacts and solutions to teammates and leadership teams.

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
. Master's degree preferred
. Familiarity with mission environments supporting C2, missile defense, space operations, and mission assurance
. Familiarity with DevSecOps, RMF, enterprise architecture, and mission system modernization
. AWS or other Hyperscaler certifications preferred
. Active clearance or ability to obtain one
. Existing customer relationships across NASA, MDA, Space Force, or related federal

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $143,500.00 - $282,500.00.
