The Solutions Designer is responsible for designing and delivering scalable, efficient, and user-centered technology solutions that support CFA Institute's content, publishing, and learning ecosystems. This role operates as an advanced individual contributor with deep functional and technical expertise, translating business needs into practical, high-quality solutions across platforms, workflows, and services. Working closely with Product Management, Software Engineering, Architecture, and business stakeholders, the Solutions Designer contributes to the full solution lifecycle, from needs assessment and concept design through implementation and continuous improvement. The role balances multiple priorities, resolves complex problems, and ensures solutions align with enterprise standards, architectural principles, and business objectives.
This position may be based in eligible jurisdictions in the United States and reports to the Head, Content Technology.
What You'll DoSolution Design & Development- Design end-to-end solutions that address business needs across content, publishing, and learning technology domains.
- Translate functional requirements into scalable technical designs, workflows, integrations, and system interactions.
- Select appropriate approaches, tools, and design patterns within established architectures and platforms.
- Ensure solutions are interoperable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise standards and best practices.
Needs Assessment & Problem Solving- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess business needs and define solution requirements.
- Analyze current-state processes, systems, workflows, and data flows to inform solution design.
- Resolve complex business and technical challenges using sound judgment and practical experience.
- Escalate high-risk, high-impact, or highly complex issues as appropriate.
Cross-Functional Delivery- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders throughout solution delivery.
- Contribute to planning, prioritization, and execution of medium-sized initiatives and larger, less complex efforts.
- Coordinate dependencies across systems, teams, and workflows to support successful outcomes.
- Communicate solution designs, trade-offs, risks, and impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Lifecycle Management & Continuous Improvement- Contribute to solution lifecycle activities including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and optimization.
- Analyze performance data, user feedback, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support iterative enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives across solutions and processes.
- Help ensure solutions continue to meet evolving business and user needs.
Standards, Best Practices & Innovation- Apply established standards, frameworks, and best practices in solution design and delivery.
- Contribute to the evolution of tools, methodologies, and practices within the function.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and user experience through innovation.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and domain best practices.
Guidance & Collaboration- Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to peers and junior team members.
- Support documentation efforts and contribute reusable assets, design patterns, and knowledge resources.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to enable effective solution delivery and organizational success.
What You'll Bring- Bachelor's degree in technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in solution design, systems analysis, product development, or related roles
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering technology solutions in complex environments Experience working within content, publishing, learning, or digital platform ecosystems preferred Strong understanding of: System integration patterns (APIs, microservices, data flows), process modeling and workflow design. Requirements analysis and solution definition
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and balance competing priorities effectively
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences

In compliance with wage transparency laws in many of the jurisdictions in which we recruit, we provide the following information regarding compensation for this position: Expected salary range: $106,400 - $141,900 per year. All salary ranges are subject to adjustment based on experience, education, and other factors relevant to the position. Additional benefits include eligibility for an annual incentive bonus, a 12% employer contribution to a 401(k) or pension plan, and a comprehensive medical benefits package.
