Summary:

In this role, you will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Platform Engineering, Security, CloudOps, and Enterprise Architecture teams to design secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions across applications, data platforms, integrations, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled systems. The Solution Architect will be responsible for defining end-to-end solution architectures, establishing architectural standards, guiding development teams, evaluating emerging technologies, and ensuring compliance with enterprise security and governance requirements. You will also mentor engineering teams in the adoption of new technologies, architectural practices, and reusable platform capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Design end-to-end solution and reference architectures spanning applications, APIs, integrations, data platforms, identity, security, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Platform Engineering, CloudOps, Security, and IT teams to embed security, reliability, and operational excellence into development workflows and cloud environments.
  • Lead evaluation and selection of technologies, frameworks, tools, and architectural patterns.
  • Develop proofs of concept (POCs), automation scripts, tools, and reference implementations to evaluate emerging technologies and accelerate adoption.
  • Participate in and lead architecture and design sessions with engineering teams and business stakeholders.
  • Advise business stakeholders on software design, translating requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable technical solutions.
  • Design solutions that meet non-functional requirements including security, reliability, scalability, performance, availability, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering teams to define and implement reusable services, shared capabilities, and reference architectures.
  • Drive the long-term technical evolution of systems in alignment with enterprise architecture and technology strategy.
  • Ensure solution designs comply with enterprise policies, security standards, data governance requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Identify new frameworks, tools, and libraries that improve engineering team productivity and platform capabilities.
  • Publish, maintain, and communicate architectural standards, best practices, and reference architectures for engineering teams.
  • Mentor engineering teams in the adoption of new technologies, architectural patterns, and software development practices.

Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree preferred. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 7 or more years of software engineering experience required, including at least 5 years in software architecture, solution architecture, or systems design roles.
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS or Microsoft Azure services, including networking and security capabilities.
  • Demonstrated full-stack development experience across front-end, back-end, API, and cloud-native application architectures.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, enterprise-grade systems and distributed architectures.
  • Strong technical communication, presentation, and diagramming skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of security, compliance, and governance frameworks including HIPAA, SOC 2, and modern identity and access management concepts.
  • Experience with data architecture, data modeling, APIs, integrations, event-driven architecture, middleware, and modern application design patterns preferred.
  • Hands on experience with Boomi, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services or similar iPaaS platforms
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Pulumi, Terraform, or similar tools preferred.
  • Proficiency with development languages such as Python, C#, Java, JavaScript and front-end frameworks like Angular or React.
  • Experience developing or integrating AI-enabled solutions and understanding AI architecture patterns preferred.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, Linux administration tools, IAM, OIDC, FGA, and modern security protocols preferred.
  • Experience building proofs of concept and evaluating emerging technologies to support enterprise adoption preferred.
  • Relevant cloud architecture certifications or equivalent industry certifications preferred.
  • This is an office-based role with an expectation of three days per week on site.

Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $135,200.00 to $236,600.00.
