Full Job Description
The Need 

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Solutions Architect, Salesforce to serve as technical architect for the Salesforce Platform and related systems and be responsible for the design & architecture of global technology applications and services and contributing to cross-functional technology planning. 

  

This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Director, Salesforce and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US. 

 

Responsibilities: 
 

Leadership and Management 

  • Design Solutions aligned to existing and future-state architecture roadmap for the Salesforce platform; 

  • Architect rich interactive, responsive applications for the Salesforce platform based on business needs; 

  • Actively engage in coding to help the Application Development team to develop solutions and solve all surfacing problems at hand;  

  • Act as a mentor, coach and escalation point for all technical project resources. 

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation 

  • Lead architecture initiatives from inception to completion; 

  • Regularly interact with Product Owners and business partners to scope custom implementations, integrations and solutions - dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams; 

  • Initiate, design and build new solutions, demos, troubleshooting and defining product requirements and use cases; 

  • Assess feasibility and approach for use cases and integration opportunities; 

  • Explore and research new technologies to integrate and monitor with JDS and other IJM Enterprise Applications; 

  • Secure APIs and experience developing services that are identified by both consuming application and end-users and securing services across both constructs with OAuth, SAML, Two-Factor or Custom Authentication Schemes (mobile security); 

  • Implement and execute relevant security protocols based on IJM’s Data Security Policy. Work with members of IJM’s Infrastructure and Cyber Security teams to design, implement, re-engineer, and integrate into existing topology, security devices and/or applications related to IDS/IPS, Anti-Malware, Ransomware, Network Security Posturing, and Data Security, both transitive and intransitive; 

  • Evaluate end user systems and new IT purchases in order to assess impact on IJM’s current technical environment. 

Networking & Partnership 

  • Partner with GTS leaders to define and refine requirements for enterprise architecture, data architecture and system governance processes; 

  • Partner with GTS staff, specifically Enterprise Application teams, to ensure that project deliverables are met, often managing multiple projects in parallel timelines;  

  • Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders; 

  • Enhance Application Development through relationships with our on/offshore vendors and partners, driving interactions and deliverables to maximize the value and ROI. 

Policies and Procedures 

  • Advise on policies and strategies focused on managing IJM’s data in collaboration Data & Analytics and Cyber Security teams;  

  • Develop and deliver Application Development team guidelines on proper documentation of systems design, operations, and disaster recovery procedures; 

  • Examine areas of opportunity to improve the scalability of our technology stack, including working as a team to make architecture and technology framework decisions; 

  • Create and maintain proper application documentation for all IJM custom applications and integrations. 

Communication 

  • Clearly articulate the impact, value and effort of technical proposals to technical and non-technical audiences;  

  • Represent the Application Development team and serve as technical advisor in decisions regarding system enhancements or feature request; 

  • Regularly inform key leadership on potential opportunities for integration and data management; 

  • Clearly relay information upstream and downstream between HQ and Regional leadership and offshore vendors related to custom applications; 

  • Manage availability of Application Development team, ensuring continual support to IJM business needs; 

  • Oversee cooperative coordination with End User Services, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and Product Management teams on key issues, projects, task-based work, troubleshooting, problem mitigation, bug identification and tracking, service incident escalations, new releases, and other needs;  

  • Serve as Technical SME on the Infrastructure and Desktop modernization projects; 

  • Review and inform training on all custom-built applications. 

Documentation, Reporting & Data Management 

  • Advise the organization’s Business Intelligence, Data Program Pathway and Enterprise Architecture development and management processes; 

  • Perform technical quality assurance, paying attention to detail at both the code and front end/presentation layer; 

  • Troubleshoot issues affecting production, stage, and development environments as requested; 

  • Support the delivery of software solutions following industry standard Software Development Life Cycle: gather requirements, system configuration, test and UAT, deployment and support. 

Clerical and Administration 

  • Maintain appropriate documentation of project solutions, including updates to project and agile tracking mechanisms; 

  • Complete regular time entry activities in Workday; 

  • Manage email and teams correspondence.  

General tasks 

  • Engage in regular team huddles, standups and other regular cadences as assigned; 

  • Attend regular solution design and sprint planning sessions with development team; 

  • Provide response to inquiries from team on technical capabilities of supported systems, and as act as a point of escalation in problem resolution; and  

  • Participation in IJM’s community of spiritual formation.   

  

Qualifications:  
  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience; 

  • 15+ years’ professional experience; 

  • 10+ years application development/SDLC experience; 

  • 5+ years designing and architecting enterprise application and data solutions; 

  • 5+ years working with APIs and Open-Source commercial grade highly scalable solutions; 

  • Proven Salesforce Application Development and Architecture experience; 

  • Proven experience in Application Development, Application Integration, and Application Modernization; 

  • Experience with Data Architecture & Management, including development of enterprise data systems (i.e. DataMart, Warehouses, SQL Server); 

  • Design proficiencies with modern system architecture (i.e. Microservices, APIs, Containers, Cloud Services); 

  • Proven experience with Software Development methodologies (i.e. SDLC, Agile); 

  • Experience working in cloud-based, multi-tenant infrastructure; 

  • Experience with vendor management required; 

  • Experience with project and budget management preferred; and 

  • Bi-lingual English and (Spanish, German, or a language spoken in an IJM office) beneficial.
