The Role
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with expertise in AI-accelerated frontend prototyping and development to join our Digital practice in Dallas, Texas. The successful candidate will be proficient using React/Next.js, and have a robust understanding of scalable, multi-tenant backend systems, AWS cloud architecture, and a Secure Scrum Development Lifecycle (SSDLC). You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, experience designers and researchers. This is a hybrid role. Therefore, candidates must be in the DFW Metroplex and be able to work in the United States without sponsorship or through a third party.
Responsibilities and Requirements
1. Technical Core: Frontend
- Framework & UI Mastery: The primary focus is building a "leapfrog" user experience that exceeds competitors in personalization and utility. Proficiency required in js / React (specifically modern workflows) alongside modern styling and component architecture using Tailwind CSS or shadcn/ui for cross-platform web and application delivery.
- Accessibility: Commitment to WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards, ensuring inclusivity through screen reader compatibility and keyboard navigation.
- Workflow Optimization: Proven ability to streamline frontend development (e.g. by leveraging MCP to automate code generation directly from Figma design assets), accelerating delivery while maintaining high-fidelity implementation.
2. Technical Core: Backend & Infrastructure
- Ensure the backend is "AI-ready" and capable of supporting complex integrations.
- Architecture & RESTful APIs: Proficiency in js (TypeScript) or Python (FastAPI) to build a modular, API-first architecture, backed by extensive experience with REST-based APIs and a firm commitment to core REST principles.
- Data Security & Multi-tenancy: Expertise in PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS with a focus on multi-layered isolation, row-level security, JSONB usage, and ElastiCache (Redis) integration to manage 500,000+ volunteer records across 4,500+ organizations.
- Cloud-Native Infrastructure & CI/CD: All backend infrastructure and service requirements are hosted on AWS, utilizing capabilities including AWS ECS (Fargate), S3, SQS, CloudFront, and WAF, alongside containerization using Docker and automated GitHub Actions pipelines with non-negotiable security gates (SAST/SCA/Secret Scanning) to establish a "Golden Thread" of auditability.
- Third-Party & Screening Integrations: Experience building secure RESTful connectors and webhook handlers, with emphasis on background check orchestrations (e.g., VeriFyi, Trulioo) and PII vaulting.
- Infrastructure as Code: Expertise in Terraform or AWS CDK is required to provision and manage cloud infrastructure with strict reproducibility, version control, and seamless integration into automated CI/CD deployment lifecycles.
3. AI & Emerging Technology
- AI-Augmented & Secure Workflows: Previous experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD) is preferred, and openness to using it is required alongside a "Shift Left" security approach, leveraging AI tools like GitHub Copilot while adhering strictly to SSDLC principles.
- Nice to Have: Experience with AWS Kiro is preferred, openness to learning and using it is required.
4. Professional Nuance & Soft Skills
- Security & Regulatory Compliance: Alignment with SOC 2 Type II practices, robust PII isolation, and strict adherence to regulatory standards including FERPA, COPPA (Verifiable Parental Consent), and the Texas SCOPE Act.
- Experience-First Philosophy: A mindset that treats design as the primary lens for decision-making, aiming for a "zero learning curve" for volunteers.
- Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership within a cross-functional team, guiding architectural decisions and mentoring engineers.
