Description

This position is expected to be a field assignment in the southern region of the United States. The location of the assignment can vary depending on the job and/or client. We do offer per diem for those that qualify.

 

The Solar PV Construction Site Manager will oversee their assigned projects' field operations/installation side to help ensure that equipment is installed safely, accurately, completely, and within the estimated timeline. This is a full-time, onsite position.

 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversight of a Solar PV Project for specific construction contractor and sub-contractor activities.
  • Provide interface between contractors/subcontractors and client Review/Create project-specific site work plans.
  • Review/Create and prepare quality surveillance plans.
  • Prepare and review various reports, including construction and quality surveillance, source inspections, and certified material tests.
  • Review calibration records. Generate non-conformance reports.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during construction activities and provide resolution.

Ongoing/Special Duties:

  • The Solar PV Construction Site Manager is responsible for reviewing project information submitted by the project manager, site manager, or client.
  • Meetings - mandatory attendance at various weekly meetings.
  • The Solar PV Construction Site Manager obtains necessary data, including photographs/measurements/assessment, structural information, electrical panel, inverter location, conduit path, Cat5 to inverter plan or monitoring plan, etc.
  • Installation Contractor Support - The Solar PV Construction Manager monitors the contractors on-site. This includes fielding phone calls and forwarding any questions they may have, communicating staffing shortages, addressing challenging situations, new racking, or process, etc.
  • The onsite Solar PV Construction Site Manager will verify that the contractors adhere to the client's safety standards.
  • Quality Control – The Solar PV Construction Site Manager will conduct quality control visits to project sites.
  • Subcontractor Coordination - The Solar PV Construction Site manager is responsible for communicating with subcontractors regarding installation information and timeline during installation. They will provide the project information and verify that the sub-contractor is submitting the required checklists.
  • Checklists - The Solar PV Site Construction Manager will verify that installation checklists have been completed fully, accurately, and submitted by the crew when completed. This includes ensuring the client's monitoring portal is created and functioning correctly.
  • Inspections/Utility Commissioning/Final Walk-Throughs/Monitoring- Solar PV Construction Site Manager will monitor any quality inspections or start-up &commissioning after the crew has left the site. They will notify the PM that the project is complete and meets the standards.
  • Change Orders - If any changes are made to the design of a project during the installation phase, it is the Solar PV Construction Site Manager’s responsibility to ensure the other project stakeholders (design, procurement, PM, etc.) are notified. This includes but is not limited to interconnection methods, module movements, remote disconnects, and placards.
  • Work with the Site Safety Manager to keep job sites safe and OSHA compliant.
  • Provide construction plan input and evaluation: monitor construction methods and sequence for compatibility with construction plan requirements.
  • Lead and attend contractor performance review and coordination meetings.
  • Resolve contractor coordination conflicts following project schedule and respective contract terms.
  • Monitor engineering support to ensure it is responsive to contractor needs.
  • Monitor construction work quality, costs, and schedule - report variances to eliminate negative impacts.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance.
  • Provide contractors with ongoing communication of project issues, information, safety, and quality.
  • Develop and execute a field contractor quality audit and surveillance plan for assigned contracts.
  • Participate in the Contractor progress payment validation process.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of field construction management experience within the power generation industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in solar generation facilities.
  • Extensive, relative, and successful experience in construction oversight of commercial or industrial Solar PV greenfield/brownfield projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and a quick learner in new software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors daily on greenfield construction sites in inclement weather and uneven grades.
Compensation Range$118,023 - $180,313 Transparency StatementSargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or an hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and supporting the overall well-being of our employees.
