Full Job Description
Responsible for the automation of requirements management, change management, requirements gathering/tracking, and configuration management are critical to a projects needs throughout the project's lifecycle. Requirements for all projects need to be traceable to all originating sources and to final outcome of the produced product. Projects require automated solutions to effectively manage the requirements, link source documents, and architectures.
Other critical areas requiring automated solutions are incident/problem management, knowledge management, defect tracking, testing, modeling architectures and designs, and lifecycle traceability. The Tools Engineer shall work with teams to identify, engineer, and implement the most optimum automated solution that follows approved processes for a given project or infrastructure. In addition, Tools Engineers shall work with all other infrastructure support teams as other support teams are identified as part of a solution to identify, engineer and implement solutions that integrate with the automation/infrastructure/productivity tools
Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required. (e.g. Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency appropriate polygraph).
Capabilities
3 Participate in the research, analysis and recommendation of software productivity tools to support Key Management development efforts3 Develop and maintain software productivity tools installation, integration, development and configuration plans.3 Develop, tailor and maintain associated technical documentation for software productivity tools.3 Perform regular backup of software productivity tools databases, datasets and files.3 Monitor, track, and manage software productivity tools, licenses, and associated media.3 Provide support for the installation, integration, development, customization and configuration of s/w productivity tools (including but not limited to IBM/Rational Tools, HP Service Manager) in support of Key Management efforts.3 Provide consulting, training and hands-on expertise to project personnel to include Key Management personnel in the use of software tools.3 Integrate software productivity tools to implement existing and proposed project processes in use.
Required Qualifications
3 TS/SCI with agency appropriate poly3 Ten (10) years combined experience as a software engineer, system engineer, system administrator or configuration management engineer.3 Six (6) years experience as a tools engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.3 Bachelors degree in a technical or business discipline from an accredited institution is required.3 Four (4) years of additional experience as a software engineer, system engineer, system administrator, or configuration management experience may be substituted for a Bachelors degree.3 Labor Category must be in compliance with certification requirements detailed in DoD8570-M, IAT level 1.
Required Technical Skills
3 Expertise in installing/operating/administering and upgrading ClearCase and ClearQuest Tools3 Strong knowledge of developing/implementing requirements repositories3 Strong knowledge of using JIRA and other project management/tracking tools3 General scripting knowledge (perl, bash, sh, csh, windows batch, python)3 Must have excellent writing skills
