A Day in the Life
Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM) develops technologies and solutions that support patient monitoring, respiratory care, and perioperative safety across healthcare settings. Within ACM, the Digital Health team develops and sustains software applications, connectivity solutions, and digital capabilities that support clinicians and improve the delivery of patient care.

This role is based in Lafayette, Colorado and is an onsite position requiring regular presence at the assigned Medtronic work location

As a Software Test Engineer I, you will support software verification and validation activities for digital health products and technologies. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to software quality through manual testing, test automation, documentation, and execution of validation activities within a regulated product development environment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with software engineers, feature owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, and testing needs.
  • Develop and maintain verification and validation documentation in accordance with established software development and testing procedures.
  • Execute manual test protocols, document results, and collect objective evidence to support product quality and compliance requirements.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts to improve test coverage and efficiency.
  • Define and manage test scenarios, test scope, and testing activities for new and existing software features.
  • Utilize test environments and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools to support automated verification and validation workflows.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, reviews, and functional discussions related to software quality.
  • Support design control activities and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Experience executing software verification and validation activities, including manual testing and test documentation.
  • Experience with Python scripting for test automation or software quality activities.
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts and pipeline maintenance.
  • Experience testing medical devices, sensors, or systems utilizing serial communication protocols.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of software testing, quality assurance, or product development experience.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and automated test scripts.
  • Experience working within regulated environments governed by quality system and design control requirements.
  • Experience using Agile software development methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle processes for medical device or healthcare technology products.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to support product verification and validation activities.


For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. a7 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$74,400.00 - $111,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
