Job Title: Software Research Engineer
Location: Menlo Park, California
Job Type: Full-time, 6-month On-Going Contract, W2
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Remote, PST preferred
Pay Range: $103.45 per hour
Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the near future. Job Description: Key Responsibilities: - Develop Python scripts to parse and download large datasets from the web in an efficient manner
- Write SQL queries to further process data
- Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot and debug software applications
- Ensure software applications meet quality and performance standards
- Provide timely solutions to technical issues
- Document software applications and maintain technical documentation
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members
- Onboard open-source ML models and build data curation pipelines
Requirements - 6+ years of experience in research engineering, ML engineering, or software engineering involving machine learning implementation
- Strong proficiency in Python programming
- Experience with PyTorch and SQL
- Proficiency working with Linux systems and shell scripting
- Experience with large-scale software development projects
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience with machine learning, LLMs, NLP, computer vision, or multimodal AI
- Experience with ML infrastructure, ML platforms, or ML backend systems
- Experience with web scraping and processing large-scale datasets
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
- Publications, research papers, or conference presentations related to machine learning or AI
Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
