Compensation Details:

• Software Engineer 17: Salaries typically range from $84,698 to $112,931 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

• Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of three days per week (subject to change).
• This role may be performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa, or from a Community Hub in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, or Brossard.

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group, under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer, was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences.

• Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state and operations required to enable EDC's 2030 business transformation.

• Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap.

• Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies.

• Lead integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations.

What you will be doing:

The Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer supports Delivery Families and Technology Teams within the Digital Technology Solutions group, with a focus on Risk & Corporate Services (RCS).

This role strengthens delivery quality by embedding quality, validation, and automation directly into engineering practices. It reflects a shift away from traditional manual QA toward a quality-focused engineering mindset aligned to an AI-assisted delivery model.

The role contributes across the delivery lifecycle, working closely with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and validated through automated and risk-based approaches.

This position is not a traditional QA role. Quality is treated as a shared engineering responsibility, supported by automation and thoughtful validation rather than manual execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Quality Engineering & Development: Contribute to software development with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and validation. Embed quality practices directly into development workflows to ensure consistent and scalable outcomes.

• Automation & Testing: Build, maintain, and evolve automated tests and validation mechanisms across systems, services, and data flows. Reduce reliance on manual testing by increasing automation coverage.

• AI-Assisted Validation: Review and validate AI-assisted outputs, including code, test cases, and data flows, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and alignment with standards and risk expectations.

• Risk-Based Quality Strategy: Partner with the Tech Lead to define and implement quality standards and risk-based testing approaches. Identify critical paths, risks, and dependencies across systems.

• Integration & End-to-End Validation: Support end-to-end and cross-system integration validation, ensuring that integrated components function correctly across complex platform environments.

• Continuous Improvement & Automation Adoption: Continuously improve testing and validation processes by identifying opportunities to automate manual activities and streamline delivery workflows.

What we are looking for:

• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in software development, testing, or quality engineering roles.

• Strong understanding of testing concepts, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Ability to analyze system behavior and identify quality risks and gaps.

• Experience working with automated testing tools and validation approaches.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

• Ability to work with AI-assisted tools while maintaining critical judgment.

• Experience transitioning from manual QA to automation-led quality models.

• Exposure to enterprise platforms or integrated systems.

• Familiarity with DevOps or continuous delivery practices.

• Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
